One of the finest people I have ever met is retiring after 50 plus years of teaching and coaching at SM North, SM West, and BV West. He has literally taught and coached generations of JoCo families. I feel lucky to have been a small part of it. Congrats Coach Alpaugh!

Losing by 1 point in overtime in the Sectional Championship hurts but doesn’t change what I think about this group of young men. Their attitude and effort in the face of adversity was something special tonight. So proud and lucky to be their coach.

Nothing will make you question your ability as a coach like being the substitute coach for the 2nd grade girls soccer team. The 12 year old ref filled me in on the rules as we went and the girls loved the snacks at the end so we will call it a win.

Thankful to have Joey been a part of our program these last 4 years both as a player and video coordinator. He has filmed more football for us than most people watch in a lifetime. His skill, dependability, and passion for the game are going to be tough to replace.

Big time accomplishment for a great kid and tremendous family. 3 sport athlete that was 2nd Team All EKL DL and 2nd Team All EKL TE. Playing in the Shrine Bowl this summer before playing football and track at ESU.
Blue Valley West’s Brooks Lowe won 6A 220 to become the first state wrestling champion in school history. Wrestles under his father, Randy Lowe. Also a third place finisher in javelin at state track and field last year and an Emporia State football signee. #sportsinkansas

Zach Darche of Blue Valley West has been one of the best two-way players in 6A 🏈 this season. 6/7 on Friday for 191 yards passing (3 TD), 40 yards rushing. 9 tackles (TFL). 4 punts for 44 yard average. Also snapper on FGs. 72 tackles on defense, 1,330 yards of offense in '22.

Great news! Proud of how we have handled this difficult situation. Our players have done an amazing job staying mentally engaged and physically prepared. Our coaches have done an amazing job of staying positive and being flexible.
BV evaluated voluntary activities/athletics against @ksdehq's Gating Criteria & determined BV will be in the YELLOW gating level for activities/athletics thru 10/2. This means all voluntary high school activities/athletics can resume practice & competition
