Baroda suspended Deepak Hooda for the entire domestic season after a spat with Krunal Pandya in January and he scores a 20-ball 50 in his first match since then... the right kind of motivation

We'll remember the collapse, we'll remember Bumrah's brilliance, we'll remember NZ's grit but when I think about the semi-final perhaps the one thing I'll remember most is the fight shown by Jadeja and Dhoni.
Watching Manu and thinking of Saurabh Chaudhary. The only Indian shooter to make a final at Tokyo. Hopefully, he too can find his redemption.

KXIP fielding coach Jonty Rhodes gave Pooran's effort a standing ovation!
When the world's best fielder does that you know you have done something special.
Milkha Singh's dying wish was to see an Indian win a gold medal in track and field at the Olympics. It has come just a little late but the Flying Sikh would have absolutely loved this moment. What an achievement for Neeraj and what a moment for India!
For India to have an athlete who gives you a guaranteed medal in big events is unprecedented. It just tells you how special Neeraj is. Citius, Altius, Fortius!

For much of his knock, Pandya struggled. Couldn't get the timing right. But then the way he came to party to finish the match off was unreal. He has just reached a new level. Right now, he is in a different zone. 👏 👏 👏
While we cheer for Mirabai, let us not forget that Saurabh had a wonderful qualifying campaign. He went out early in the 10m Air Pistol final but remember Bindra went to four Olympics and won just once. Saurabh has time on his side. This experience will make him better.
“I was having a drink with Ravi (Shastri) the other day and he told me that probably (Umesh) Yadav will get the nod as the third pacer.”

Meanwhile, one has got to feel for Manu Bhaker. She topped qualification but a pistol malfunction saw her finish in fifth place in the individual 25m pistol final. Hard luck.

Golf is a lot like Test cricket. No instant results. You have to wait and wait through numerous twists and turns and in the end, you are rewarded sometimes with a finish like today. India should actually take to it quite readily.

India men lost to Australia 1-7
India women lost to the Dutch 1-5
Both in the semis now. This is belief. This is trusting in the process and all those things they talk about. Historic.
Former India coach Harendra Singh: "When Sreejesh first came to my camp, he came without pads and in a lungi. That is why I call him Jango. This boy has sacrificed a lot for this moment. He is one of the best in the world today."

Manu Bhaker will be criticised but at this point, the federation and her coaches need to protect her. The post-mortem can wait. She is still only 19 and the aftermath could scar her for life. Break it down and build it up again.
7 double hundreds, 7000 Test runs... Virat Kohli continues to break records. One can only marvel at how he manages to stay in the moment each time he comes out to bat. No Indian has got as many double hundreds in Test cricket now.
It is only fair that we acknowledge
@M_Raj03
as one of the greatest cricketers India has ever produced. Not one of the greatest women cricketers but one of the greatest cricketers, period.

India are through to the semi-finals. What an upset! What a performance! Savita! Gurjit and every other Indian player... heroes all!!!
Has there ever been a greater individual performance for India in a Test series than Harbhajan Singh's 32-wicket haul against Australia in 2001? I think not.
To think that he was just 20 at the time.
What Ashwin does time and again is simply unbelievable. On the most placid of tracks, his six-wicket haul just about keeps India in it. In doing so, he also went past Kumble on two counts -- most wickets (113) against Aussies and most five-wicket hauls (26) in India

When TTY and Marin are on their game, only they stand a chance against each other. Sindhu tried but TTY found her rhythm and from that point on, the Indian was just a spectator. It is just a reality we all have to live with.
We probably won't be talking much about Foakes' knock maybe because he is Foakes. But this has been quite the innings. 30 off 97 and he has actually looked comfortable at times. And that's quite something.

Big challenge for Aditi tomorrow could be the weather -- the rain and the wind could make things difficult. Mentally, she has been so solid throughout the event. Her mom will be on hand to help too. One more round.

PV Sindhu has the uncanny ability to raise her game when it matters most. Perhaps it can be taught but Sindhu clearly is a natural. She was exhausted at the end of it. What a match! What a win!
You have to qualify for the Olympics. Not everyone gets there. Some spend their whole lives trying but still don't get there. So no one is there to take a walk in the park or to enjoy the atmosphere. They are there to win and when they don't, it hurts them the most.

So Kohli is in the strange situation where he is the better batsman but Rohit is the better white-ball captain and Rahane looks like the better red-ball captain...

Can Jadeja and Chahal share the player of the match award? One for his batting and one for his bowling. They are essentially the same player... right?
Norway's Karsten Warholm produced an astonishing run to smash his own world record on his way to winning the men's Olympic 400m hurdles gold. The signs were there. He had broken the older record at the start of July. The is peak 'Peaking'. A crazy run. A remarkable time. 45.94.
Just one Korean male archer left in the competition and India have played a role in knocking out one of them. How big is this! Atanu was very, very consistent. Started off with two 8s in the first set. But just one 8 thereafter. Everything else, 9 and higher. What a win!
Pramod Bhagat! He said he wasn't worthy of being a coach until he had won something big. He's there now I reckon. What a match... what a thrilling fightback!
What emotion from India after reading the semi-finals for the first time since 1980... Harmanpreet in tears... and so were so many of the others. What a weight off their shoulders...

Mary Kom wins. She beats an opponent who was 15 years younger. That is incredible in most cases but even more incredible because it is happening in a sport that is as physical as boxing. Into the last 16.
No medal. But celebrate the India women's hockey team anyway. They deserve it. The strides they have made in international hockey have been nothing short of incredible.
Every time some other country wins a javelin medal, I almost feel bad now. All these javelin medals in the recent past are spoiling me. But in a certain sense, India's javelin journey in this century began with Devendra Jhajharia and his gold medal at Athens 2004.

India's women's hockey team didn't win the bronze but they won our hearts. They went further than most predicted. They played with guts. They played without fear. They believed. Today, they are in tears but they have done India proud. Onwards and upwards.

Lovlina is the first woman boxer from Assam to qualify for the Olympics. Now, she has a medal in her bag. She took a break from Olympics prep when her mother underwent a kidney transplant, later Covid struck the coaching camp. Just pushed forward. Immense.

Agarwal's series so far: 17, 9, 0, 5. He hasn't looked comfortable in the middle. The feet aren't moving. Very unsure. Will India bring Rohit Sharma in for the next Test?

After 13 seasons, the mega auctions should become history. Imagine building a team and then watching it being broken down again and again. Tough for the players and tough for the fans too. Now, let teams bolster squads through scouting, transfers and a draft.

Damn. How good was Ravi Kumar. Down 3-9, many would have thought it was beyond them. But rather than get demoralised, he went on the offensive and earned himself a most spectacular win. So much heart! A gold medal match beckons.

That look says it all. This hurts. This hurts us all. India gave it their all but Argentina just had more in the tank today. They were relentless in attack and set a pace that India were just unable to cope with. Now, for the bronze medal match.

Roger Federer has never retired during a match - and he still hasn't. So many others would have thrown in the hat but he hung on and somehow, managed to win too. What a legend!
2 gold medals for Kosovo, who sent just 11 athletes to Tokyo. Both medals have come in judo. Quite the impact of Majlinda Kelmendi, who was the only Olympic medallist in Kosovo’s history coming into the Games. A fascinating story.
Aditi Ashok had Covid-19 in May and June and was stuck in India where she lost a lot of strength and length with the illness. But she's been so good at the Olympics. She hasn't got the driving length back but her putting has been so, so solid.
