Thank you, I agree! The closest we’ve gotten is Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (my favourite game of all time) but an actual pixel art game would be the best thing ever!!

I will never forget the pure poetry that is Ihatovo Monogatari. The novels of Kenji Miyazawa condensed into a small episodic SFC game. No hints, no clear objectives, all you can do is talk to people and watch the passage of the seasons.

I believe the track is called "Laura's Diary" but you might have better luck searching in Japanese (ロコちゃんの日記). I think I found it on Youtube? enjoy!

I haven't heard of that one before! It has exceptional isometric pixel art for its time. Would love to see more games like that. Bandle Tale is the closest modern example I can think of.

Thank you! No tileset, I mostly just copied the same sections, cut/stretch them and cleaned them up. I don’t have guides for it but detailing your textures on a simple top-down perspective tile and using a skew/distort tool to make it isometric is usually a good way to start!
