for as long as RPG's have existed, devs have used NPC dialogue to foreshadow and set up storylines or character development
this sequence in rebirth is PARTICULARLY interesting, given that the theme of the game is CHOICE and FATE
Maybe I've been overthinking but I find the scripts & set up in the dream date is quite interesting. It feels like Dev have embedded their own voice & thoughts in the shop owners' scripts:
