@dadswithmics We invite the whole class. Kids that don’t often get invited to bday parties are happy to be included. The whole class can talk about the party before/after. Preparation is fun- we work together on a theme, food, games. Birthdays are once per year- make it a big deal!

@BigEnergyDad Maintain control of your emotions in every interaction. Any emotion displayed should be deliberate, not because you lost control. Easier said than done.

We didn’t let my 7 y.o. have any screen time last wknd. What happened? She designed an amusement park in our house called ‘Home Park’. Complete with a ticket booth, info desk, shuttle, rollercoaster, magician, ice skating, snack bar, bungee jumping & more. Incredible. @tyromper

My 6 y.o. is least talkative after getting off bus. She doesn’t want a million questions…she wants to relax But at 7p, we go to basement and play DDCG (downstairs daddy carnival games-trampoline, obstacle course, etc) and she tells me everything @tyromper @realpeteyb123

Each game is an easy 20-30 minutes of quality engagement that is fun for everyone. Pretend play is easier when you have a base set of 10 or so games with variations that can go in variety of directions Play a game or two, take a break, eat a snack, watch a show, and play again.

2022: 0 lift sessions 2023: 215 lift sessions I bought into the idea that dads should be strong-that helped me maintain discipline throughout the year. I sacrificed 1.5 hours of mindless screen time in the evening for 1.5 hours of focused self-improvement in the morning.

Through the course of a week, I often think, “there’s nowhere in the world I would rather be than right here.” What are you doing when you have this thought? How can you do more of that? How can you do other similar things?
