“She’s got electric boots, a mohair suit” is superb: Iambic pentameter, a caesura that helps vary the rhythm, clever internal rhyme.
@cjscalia Bennie and the Jets. To this day, cannot understand the lyrics, even looking at a lyric sheet. Same with Hollies “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress”. Enunciation was not a strong suit for 1970s British artists.

These aren’t even close to Bernie Taupin’s worst lyrics. That dishonor belongs to this incoherent mess from Rocket Man: “Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids / In fact, it's cold as hell / And there's no one there to raise them if you did.”
Wtf was Elton John on about when he goes If I was a sculptor… heh. But then again, no.
