"By modernizing DITAP, we're not just improving a training program—we're empowering professionals to navigate the complexities of digital procurement and deliver better results for the public." On January 14–15, 2025, our team gathered in Washington, D.C. to kick off the next phase of the DITAP curriculum refresh. This onsite was a critical step in shaping a more modern, flexible, and experiential program that meets the evolving needs of federal acquisition professionals. With exciting adaptations in the works—like DITAP Lite for senior leaders and DITAP for Program Managers—we’re creating a future-proof, scalable program designed to equip professionals at every level. 🔗 Read more about our onsite and what’s next: #DITAP #GovTech #DigitalProcurement #FederalAcquisition

🚀 Exciting news for the Drupal community! Today marks the launch of Drupal CMS, a game-changer in making Drupal's powerful capabilities even more accessible. We asked our team of Drupal experts to share their thoughts on this milestone: 🗨️ "We look forward to working with these powerful modules in Drupal CMS to see that Drupal's commitment to Accessibility is built into future releases." — @mgifford, Open Standards and Practices Lead 🗨️ "Drupal CMS is an easy-to-use packed version of Drupal that offers an effortless introduction to the power and extensibility of Drupal as a content management framework. It'll appeal to those interested in Drupal but frightened off by the learning curve, or to those looking for an alternative to platforms like WordPress. Drupal CMS contains plenty of tools and functionality to make content publishing easy for those who don't want to spend time in a CMS, and the Project Browser and Recipes make extending Drupal less daunting. I'm looking forward to the journey as more and more government agencies, non-profits, companies, and individuals adopt Drupal CMS and become part of the immense, healthy, thriving Drupal community." — Andy Hawks, Director of Drupal Engineering We’re thrilled to see how Drupal CMS makes it easier than ever for organizations to join the Drupal community while maintaining the accessibility, extensibility, and flexibility we all love. Here's to the next chapter of innovation and collaboration! 🎉 #DrupalCMS #OpenSource #Accessibility @drupalassoc Learn more about the Launch and Launch Party at

🚀 We’re thrilled to announced our continued work with the @DeptVetAffairs with the Drupal Content Management System (CMS) powering Alongside our prime partner and SPRUCE-contract holder, MO Studio, and partner @Metrostar, we're excited to enhance the speed, stability, and scalability of ensuring Veterans and their families receive timely, reliable, and seamless access to critical resources. Currently, content publishing times from VA’s decoupled Drupal instance can be a challenge, impacting the delivery of essential information. We’re excited to start implementing improvements that will significantly enhance publishing speed and create a more seamless experience for end users. This reflects our commitment to stability, security, and innovation. Beyond speed improvements, our team is dedicated to providing continuous training and support for the VA Drupal editorial community—empowering content creators with the tools and resources they need to make the greatest impact. At CivicActions, we’re proud to bring our expertise in Drupal, accessibility, and open-source innovation to advance this vital mission. Together with VA and MO Studios, we’re building secure, accessible, and human-centered platforms that deliver exceptional user experiences for Veterans, their families, and beneficiaries. #DigitalTransformation #Drupal #GovTech #Veterans #VA #OpenSource #FOSS #FedHealth

ICYMI: An article in StateScoop highlights a new audit showing that none of the U.S. state websites currently meet the upcoming DOJ web accessibility standards—an urgent call to action for government agencies. The findings, published in the Web Almanac, spotlight accessibility gaps across state homepages and key pages. CivicActioner @mgifford, open standards and practices lead at CivicActions, authored the government accessibility section, providing a critical “state of accessibility” snapshot using Google Lighthouse scores. As Mike notes, “To meet the minimum requirements for accessibility, this has to be 100%. And it’s not.” 🌐 With the DOJ’s new requirements set to take effect in 2025, states must act quickly to ensure digital spaces are inclusive for all citizens. 🔗 Read the full article on @StateScoop: At CivicActions, we help governments meet—and exceed—accessibility standards with expertise and care. Let’s build digital spaces that work for everyone. #DigitalAccessibility #GovTech #InclusiveWeb #a11y #accessibility

We are excited to announce that as core maintainers of @DKAN, DKAN is now an authorized Digital Public Good and has been added to the @DPGAlliance DPG Registry! The goal of the DPGA and its registry is to promote digital public goods in order to create a more equitable world. Being recognized as a DPG increases the visibility, support for, and prominence of open projects that have the potential to tackle global challenges. To become a digital public good, all projects are required to meet the DPG Standard to ensure that projects truly encapsulate open source principles. DKAN is a powerful, community-driven open data platform. As a Drupal module, DKAN leverages Drupal's robust features to create modern, standards-focused, and API-first open data catalogs for the public good, including our clients @CMSGov and @ORNL. For us, being recognized as a digital public good—defined as open source software, open data, open AI models, open standards, and open content that adhere to privacy and other applicable laws and best practices, do no harm, and help attain the SDGs—means contributing to a more equitable and open digital future. The Digital Public Goods Alliance is a multi-stakeholder initiative endorsed by the @UN Secretary-General, working to accelerate the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals. “It’s really good to see the work that’s being done on [meeting digital accessibility standards and GSA’s 2024 assessment] and the efforts to raise awareness within the organizations, especially the part about how much staffing is required for accessibility and the understaffing of accessibility across the board. I think the most important thing is that this is being done, and that this needs to keep happening. This type of annual evaluation of websites is really the only way we’re going to go off and make improvements in government agencies.” - @mgifford in @FederalNewsNet

As a fully distributed company, the act of bringing together over 100 team members for an in-person summit in Denver, Colorado last month was more than just about gathering—it was a celebration of two decades of innovation, mission-driven digital services, and most importantly, human connection. One aspect of our summit that was particularly successful for driving meaningful conversation was using Open Space Technology, an approach to driving deeper conversations amongst our team members. With the help of expert facilitators from Three Stories Consulting, we created a milestone event that perfectly embodied our long-standing commitment to trust, openness, and collaboration.
