I don’t post about my relationship very often but I just wanna say that even after 2 years of pandemic and spending nearly every single day together, I leave the house for 30 minutes to walk the dog and he sends me texts that make me laugh out loud and I love that for me 🥰🥰🥰

It’s been a year since we moved to this beautiful house. A year of surprise centipedes, spiders the size of my hand, crows smashing our roof tiles, Lon bringing home a snake, & learning to acclimate to humidity, heat, and cold. Now that we know what to expect, bring on year two!

Fukuoka is going to open up a 24 hour vaccination center in July so anyone can get the vaccine regardless of their lifestyle rhythm! 😍 So far Fukuoka is apparently the only city in Japan to put this type of system forward. Finally some good news!

I keep saying this, but having a baby has been the best introvert hack I’ve accidentally discovered. You can go anywhere alone with baby and look busy. “Hi, yeah she’s sleeping, yup, we’re fine! Just soaking in the atmosphere and contributing absolutely nothing!”

People talk about how eating alone is weird or embarrassing but I actually love it so much? Just me and my thoughts, at my pace, with my favorite foods. Also, there are two other women in this lunch spot right now who are eating alone as well - I suspect they feel the same way.

Kishida has approved the acceptance of Ukrainian Refugees (starting with those who have family or contacts in Japan.)
I did not think it would happen, considering the two years of difficult and confusing rules for immigrating foreigners, but I am happy to see I was wrong.

Had a really great weekend, and upon reflection, October was a really good month. Although I live far away from my own family, I'm definitely not alone in Japan. I have so much love for everyone who has taken care of me, and I feel like I have really good people around me now.

Part of this I never really had the foresight to predict was how, for the next little while, going out/leaving the house really sucks because you never know when you'll have to run into someone and give them an update on your life. Social anxiety is high.

An Uber taxi driver picked me up today and told me he was "already past but made a U-turn" because I was a five star user. I asked and he said because it's rainy he gets a lot of requests but "only accepts five star users" when it's busy.

19 year old Japanese student studying in the USA arrives back in Japan, fully vaccinated, has an error on his PCR certificate, has digital record of his test but Immigration doesn't accept it - they send him back to USA 3 hours after arrival in Narita.

まずアメリカではその辺の薬局で無料でコロナ検査ができるが、そういう普通のPCR検査ではダメだと。Nasopharyngealという、どこもやっていない虚無の検査を要求される。結局政府が指定する謎のクリニックにPCR検査の結果を送って、書き換えてもらうのですが、
