Two rejections on the same day (yesterday) putting a major dent in my already *very* depleted energy & enthusiasm for the theatre industry. Something’s got to give here… I can’t stay in studios forever! Feeling so so stuck. Frustrating and depressing.
Why is our industry still excluding emerging professionals based on something as arbitrary as age? It makes me so angry - as if there isn't enough gate-keeping going on already. Once more for those at the back EMERGING DOES NOT MEAN YOUNG.
Much appreciated, but this is not enough... many women who take career breaks or change careers after having & raising children will still not be eligible, not to mention people who come late to directing

Kids, if you only go to support shows that give you a free ticket, that’s not supporting the show. Small companies pay for every ticket beyond their very small allocation of comps. Many fringe shows are unfunded which means that probably at least the producers are unpaid.

Ok, I'm going to take this one on the chin, mainly because the application made me properly sit down and articulate how I would make a stage adaptation of a very strange and challenging cult novel, so for that I am grateful... and one way or another, it's going to get made. 💪🏻

Fuck it... 2009: a bit lost, just started grown up gap yr having come out of an abusive relationship the yr before. Had place on MA @ Central 2010 but beyond that no idea. 1st half of 2020 there’ll be 6 shows I directed on in UK, Ireland & beyond. Single, sane & (just) solvent 💪
