While it's true that only the AfD could (perhaps) save Germany, it's also true that Germans will not vote for it in sufficient numbers, no matter what happens. #München Why? Because a large number of Germans is loyal to the system parties above anything else. It's cultural.

From what I read on this platform, Trumps initiatives have not broken this dynamic. Further escalation is what every player has to do to belong so that's what they will do. So I suspect the war will actually widen soon. A Baltics blockade for Russian ships seems very likely.
If you really want to understand European politics towards Russia, you should study the Group Monkey Dance. Being anti war means no career, being for war means maybe career. Even if the war is lost. And belonging is everything! There are no prizes for being right.

@jens_140081 @luebberding @joerglau Sich die lupenreine militärische Niederlage zu ersparen wäre auch rein politisch von erheblichen Vorteil. Ich denke dass ist, was Trump erreichen will: zu retten was zu retten ist bevor die Ukraine komplett KO ist.
