I wrote two weird creature feature horror novellas about the power of love and the power of art and I'm so happy to be with
@ShortwaveBooks
and
@AlanDistro
. I love working with this dude! Very grateful!
New title announcement! Two titles, actually...
• THE HAUNTED HOUSE THAT SWALLOWED THE UNIVERSE 👽🛸👻
• MUMMIES AND SORCERERS IN SOUTH BOSTON 🪦🧙📱
Two wild standalone novellas by
@christophpaul_
to be published together as one Double Feature volume in spring 2026!
@magdajtaylor
I have the cutest baby in the world that gives most people baby fever when meeting him but I'm also pro DINKs. They help the economy and aren't hurting anyone.
@_Rae_Knowles
He is the only grifter that makes me laugh. Like if you're going to grift for the right, go this hard and be this ridiculous. I still don't know if it's a bit or not
Excited to share that we are moving to a new house in Troy! It has an amazing basement that we can keep inventory & an office for
@clashbooks
& a place to have
@DionysusEffect
to practice & even play basement shows. Amazing home with 70s vibes & will be where Remy grows up!
This is kind of surreal but we got covered in the Times Union of Albany. I don't think we are punk, probably more Trad Goth but this article is pretty great and I love the pics!
I'm so stoked to share that I now have literary representation by Michael Mungiello at
@Inkwellmgmt
! My aliens in a haunted house weird-horror book will be going out on submission. He reps some of my fav writers & it feels good to have someone I really respect champion my work.
*Conversation with waitress at the local diner*
Her: What is a book you’re proud to have published?
Me: Girl Like a Bomb.
Her: What’s it about?
Me: A woman learns that when people sleep with her they become their best selves.
Her: That’s like my life but the exact opposite.
Ugh, let art be messy. A book is not a fucking class or a perfect attendance score, it’s someone’s self-expression no matter how dark or unsavory. Let it be that and not some Wikipediaesque checklist they need to meet.
This is why CLASH exists. Amy's novel All Our Tomorrows is fucking amazing and I didn't care about her following or any of that bullshit. The book felt special so I'm publishing it.
Does anyone know what a "large platform" counts as? Admittedly, I didn't mention my OTHER Twitter to this agent -- where I have 5.8k followers -- but I suspect that even that wouldn't be enough of a "fully-developed platform". Thoughts? How many followers is "enough"?
I feel for him because “I sell electric cars because it’s good for the planet but also also fascists should make me king” is a difficult rhetorical dance
I said to
@LezaCantoral
3 years ago when we started the
@CLASHBooks
website that if we end up selling 5,000 books from the website we’d have a legit small business. It looks good that we are going to hit that number today. Thank you so much to everyone who has been supportive!
Sold a shitload of books as a publisher
Got a lit agent who likes my weird ass books
My band got a licensing deal to be on the inflight entertainment on 3 airlines with our debut album.
A blessed year that was like 10 years in the making but also still at the beginning.
I was a progressive. I believe in the rights of all, including Jews. The latter got me tarnished with labels. The antisemites went to lengths. They made fake tweets by me to "prove" that I'm a racist, a TERF, an islamophobe, an ableist. They gave me a hate name – Eve Fartlow.
Sometimes indie publishing is a miracle: a married couple in Nowhere New Hampshire, can edit & publish a young & talented South African author, while an Australian artist makes an amazing cover for his book.
You know in a romcom when the great bridesmaid who's done like a million weddings finally gets married and feels euphoric joy. That's what it feels like as a writer who is a publisher who finally signs a contract for their own book. I'm no longer on submission!
Not sure if I’ll keep this up but this is from the car accident yesterday. Luckily the Dunkin coffee was not hot. I’m feeling less shaken up today. Wear your seat belts and be careful of icy roads even if going slow!
I’ve been in bed 3 days straight. About 95% sure it’s covid, a friend I was with for 3 days straight has it. I took a test Fri will find out Tues. I’m vaccinated & it feels like a terrible cold but not go to the hospital bad. Grateful to be vaccinated cause this thing is no joke.
I sold 4 suitcases of
@CLASHBooks
and also gained 3 pounds. So this AWP ruled! Thanks to everyone who came by the table and to the reading. No bullshit, this was my fav AWP. See y'all in LA next year.
2014 I quit writing, editing, & songwriting. My 3 big loves, I believed wasn't good enough to pursue them & to move one.
2024 all these goals are being reached & I feel very grateful.
Sometimes you have to patient & have faith you will get better & keep doing it for the love it
I'm officially on submission. Whatever happens I'm really grateful to have hit this goal. Grateful to all the authors I've worked with as they have inspired me to push myself and work on my craft.
Remy is doing much better today, my hair not so much. Very relieved after yesterday. Scary night but today is much better. Thanks to all who sent kind words ❤️
Had a lousy evening yesterday. Remy took some meds he found & we had to take him to the ER. He probably didn’t take much but he had to drink charcoal & get blood drawn for tests. He slept most of the time thankfully, but hated the other stuff. We’re back home & he’s doing great.
I don’t hate on this tweet, it just sums up why small and mid-size presses exist. We have flexibility and can take major risks that editors in the Big 4 don’t have.
Got him in 2008 and was one of the best friends I'll ever know. Our pets really become family. I loved this little guy & just said goodbye. So happy i got to know Benito. He brought so much joy and humor to our life. He'll be missed but his spirit stays alive. RIP my little dude.
I'm a sleazy cocaine rock millennial and Kaitlyn is a wholesome Zoomer who writes poetry. It's a nice Yin and Yang. Thanks to all who stopped by and said nice things about the press 🥰
In my 20s I thought I'd write an important literary novel about God & existentialism that would be part of the cultural conversation. I turned 30 & wrote an erotica parody about Kirk Cameron having sex with a Crocoduck that went viral. Dream big & you'll get somewhere close to it
Because Boston traffic is as evil as their sports teams I ended up talking with
@paulGtremblay
about Everything the Darkness Eats at Books on the Square. My son thinks Paul's book is as cool as Shark Dog. This was a lot of fun!
With being friends with other “artists” in your field, it matters way less about who sells more or is more famous etc & more about mutual inspiration and what you can learn from other. That’s the shit that really matters & of course having fun and good time with them!
Something personal about me. My mom was an artist who had talent but it didn’t do much with it & then got dementia, Parkinson’s, & Alzheimer’s & couldn’t make art. So if you’re like, “damn christoph creates a lot, wonder why.” I guess that’s why. I miss her. Happy Mother’s Day.
Reading over probably 5,000 submissions in the past 5 years, I feel people are writing what they think a novel should be instead of the novel only they can write. Make sure it’s something special, have it stand out.
I just gotta to say
@blacklionking73
is one of kindest and cool dudes I've met in the book world and I'm just happy to see all these good things for him.
A lot these to mail and pack these weekend but my Dark Lord these books are beautiful inside and out!
If you want signed copies by
@hystericteeth
with epic swag the link is below. They'll be gone by the release date 6/13.
I hate writing discourse but this whole thing that Hemingway wasn't a good short story writer is just silly. I guess it can make sense if you hate minimalism or machismo? or whatever but dude was extremely good at writing short stories.
Leave it to two bass player frontmen to take a badly lit selfie. It was awesome to see
@eve6
& talk music, writing & life after the show. Much love brother!
I think the biggest misconception I see from young writers is this idea that “great ones” are assholes. Maybe that was true last century but I’ve been fortunate to meet a lot of the great ones now & they are actually pretty chill & kind. Sorry to nicepill y’all but it’s true.
the funniest thing about disliking something other people like is that in the inverse situation you can say "cool your jets. someday you might enjoy [this food, this music, this movie]" but with food you can't really say "sit tight. someday you will hate this food like I do"
One of the hardest things I've ever written about, but I feel a little peace writing about it. Thanks again for everyone being so kind and supportive to Leza and me this week. It has really helped us.
