I was at the Sasabe, AZ border today where humanitarian volunteers told me 400 people, largely families with children, waited FOUR DAYS w/o shelter, food, medical triage, for Border Patrol to process them despite BP being on notice due to numerous calls. This isn’t isolated.

Imagine hearing your 4-year-old’s cries to leave as others around you are beaten & tortured, but you can’t b/c you’re trapped - you’ve been kidnapped for 10+ days in Reynosa where you’ve been forced to wait to seek #asylum b/c of Biden’s #AsylumBan . Mexico is not safe.

Requiring the contact information of someone in the US and use of an app that requires waiting an unknown period of time as a precondition to accessing territory/a port of entry is an impermissible barrier to seeking asylum. CBP One cannot be only path to asylum.

This is inhumane and @DHSgov must do better: Border Patrol must promptly process people; @CBP maximize asylum processing at ports of entry, including for people w/o CBP1 appts.; Stop metering & rescind the asylum ban which punishes refugees for seeking safety.
