@RCGWinnipeg @pennykittle Her passion for literacy and learning really shone through as she shared best practices and the voice & work of her students. She definitely inspired me to read more YA & raise the bar of my own teaching in middle years. Thank-you for making this possible.

“Matching texts to student levels doesn’t improve achievement.” “Frustration level placements led to greater learning gains in reading.” Research shared by @ReadingShanahan. I wonder how many literacy teachers are shocked by this.
Dr. Timothy Shanahan pushing against what we think we know; dispelling myths and charming clarity. He doesn’t disappoint as we consider teaching reading with complex text. @ReadingShanahan #PlainTalkNOLA #AlabamaLiteracyTeam @Alabama_Reading @cdlteach

So encouring to see the common sense spreading from schools like Michaela, one of the top performing schools in Britain right now. Manitoba teachers, I encourage you to pay attention.
Come visit Michaela. Visit all of the classrooms, any time of day. You won’t ever see a chrome book or an iPad. Lots of pens and paper instead ! 😋

@Henderson204 @johnmighton Hi Matt. Enjoyed your review and planning on getting the book. Is JUMP math currently being used by math teachers in your division. If so, to what extent?

I was expecting a proportion but this student found a shortcut. I was momentarily stumped by his strategy but I see now what he did. Do you get it? #JUMPmath

Registered in December already and really looking forward to the summit. I’m thinking it’s going to be my best PD this year. #expectations
Just over two weeks until the Adolescent Literacy Summit. Engaging speakers, excellent break out sessions, plus publisher displays, and author signings. If you haven't registered yet, there is still time! Don't miss out!
