NEW: A report from #TrialWatch and American Bar Association Center for Human Rights reveals the Kenyan law against female genital mutilation has been used overwhelmingly to target survivors who underwent FGM, rather than the perpetrators. Kenya’s anti-FGM law can and should be vital in combating #FGM – but it has been turned against the very people it seeks to protect. After being arbitrarily detained for over 800 days, #JoseRubénZamora has finally been released to house arrest. His prolonged detention appeared to be punishment for his work as a journalist; he should never have been prosecuted in the first place.

CFJ's dynamic video highlights @YeleSowore's treason case. ABA CHR monitored Sowore's trial for over 4 years as part of the @TrialWatch initiative. The resilience of our monitor in persisting with the trial was absolutely crucial to his case finally being struck out.
The treason case against @YeleSowore in Nigeria was finally struck out in February, after more than four years of unfair proceedings during which TrialWatch monitored his trial and published a report on his case. One month ago today, he finally reunited with his family in the US.
