An absolutely classic song from the 80s. Just hearing the intro takes us right back to that time. We had the pleasure of interviewing the lovely @Limahl_Official 4 years ago ➡️ Will hopefully catch up with him again soon!
Hi folks! Today marks exactly 42 years since 'Too Shy'—the song I co-wrote and sang lead vocals on with Kajagoogoo—hit No.1 in the UK! 🎉 It wasn’t long before it climbed the charts worldwide, reaching No.5 in the US and making waves across the globe. For a group of twenty-somethings, it was an exhilarating time. Looking back, it somehow feels like both yesterday and a lifetime ago! In 1983, landing a No.1 hit was a huge achievement—quite different from today's music landscape. 'Too Shy' sold over half a million copies on vinyl in the UK alone (7” & 12”), with millions more worldwide. Our label, EMI Records, worked tirelessly behind the scenes, with their experienced team helping to make it a success. The song’s legacy continues, with 95M+ streams, ongoing airplay, and appearances in films & TV shows like 'The Wedding Singer' (1998) and 'American Horror Story' (Season 9).
