My team says I’m reactive.
I take it as a compliment (even when it isn’t).
Some of the most important things I’ve done as a CEO stemmed from being reactive at pivotal moments:
→ When we were low on cash in our first year, I spoke to any VC I could to close our round.
→ When
Credit recovery is important for math.
In New York State, students need 3 credits of math to receive a diploma.
But for a student who failed Algebra 1, getting a credit in Algebra 2 might be impossible.
It’s essential that they learn the skills missed and get the credits lost.
Students drop out of college for a number of reasons.
Many learners is left in debt, without a degree, and with fewer opportunities.
What can we do about it?
Students who enter college prepared for the coursework are much more likely to succeed.
Having a strong academic foundation is key.
Those already with college credits before entering will have fewer required courses and a lower financial burden.
Older generations like to mock Gen Z teens.
Not us - we’re obsessed with serving them.
Gen Z grew up with Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. They learn from and use technology differently than most of us did in high school.
Those differences shouldn’t be fodder for snark and
The good news is that more older students are returning to get their bachelor’s degrees.
The bad news is that they are 3 to 4 times more likely to drop out.
Family, jobs, and other responsibilities can interfere with undergraduate education for older students.
There is inequity in the distribution of dropout rates by race.
Black and Hispanic students are more likely to drop out school than their White and Asian counterparts.
The difference is even more stark when looking at community colleges.
I got a rigorous education at an Ivy League school.
But it's not the learning experience that taught me the most about grit.
As I celebrate the success of Purdue University's men's basketball season, I'm reflecting on two of my higher education experiences: After graduating
The cost of college has risen dramatically since our parents attended.
Even adjusted for inflation, college costs four times as much as it did in the 70’s.
The burden of taking on debt to pay for college is a major contributing factor to dropout rates.
Subject offers Core Courses for students to prepare for the rigor of college.
Students can take introductory Math, English and other subjects to avoid remedial courses in undergrad.
When you start your journey prepared, you are more likely to finish.

way I’ve grown as a CEO:
I’m less reactive and more reflective.
Early on, I chased quick wins and let others' opinions sway me, leading to mistakes.
Now, I’m strategic.
Discerning with advice, calm in crises, and view mistakes as learning.
My goal?

Most students who drop out of college do so early.
One quarter of those who drop out are freshmen.
A slow start to higher education and difficulty adjusting to college life can force students to make the difficult decision to leave.
My brother discovered a love for DJing in his mid-20s.
But he almost missed this passion for music altogether - he had no experience with music or production growing up.
I still wonder what type of career he could have had if he had been exposed to these areas earlier in life.
Credit recovery is the process of helping students make up material for classes they’ve missed or failed.
Through after school programs, night classes, and summer school, students work to pass courses they failed and meet state-mandated graduation requirements.
My approach to hiring used to be like Google in the 2010s:

Fewer students are going to college.
Undergraduate enrollment, which peaked in 2010, is down over 12% today.
While COVID is certainly an attributing factor, the downward trend for students in college started well before.

Here's why we increased it to 500 this year:
We’re obsessed with user feedback. And surveys alone won’t cut it.

The drop in enrollment can be seen in all types of schools.
