Can't agree more! I have always been confused about what hyperscanning can really tell us, because it's not surprising that same behaviours and tasks produce same brain activity……
So I wrote a paper all by myself (which rarely happens) about fNIRS hyperscanning, and what it means. This thread is a very short summary. 1/n

Thrilled to share our two-year project with you. Social interaction was quantified using psychophysics combined with VR technology, based on which we built a computational model called Social Interaction Field Model.
How do people know when others are part of a group? A social interaction field model can quantify principles governing human perceptions of others’ interactions and accurately predict human judgements of social grouping in static and dynamic social scenes
