I can see both sides as record labels take the financial risk by sign a lot of artists with very few becoming successful. BUT surely investing in an artist involves healthcare??? If an artist is healthy they can focus on making music and making your investment profitable.
Former music executive critiques Chappell Roan’s Grammys speech calling out labels for not paying a “livable wage” or health care: “Demanding that labels pay artists like salaried employees ignores the fundamental economic structure of the business. No one is forcing artists to sign deals. For the one-millionth time — if they don’t like the terms, they can stay independent, own their masters and take the financial risk themselves.”
