Bangkok Bank staff blaming foreigners for slow progress on the queue, he was explaining to a thai customer, she has 99, I have 81. I told them in thai that if the bank staffed the desks properly instead of yapping, the line would go fast. A rather upset silence from the staff.

Sent 100 /1kg bags of the darker mangosteens (need to eat in 2 days) and 30kg rambutans to the Covid field hospital at sports club on Rom Klaew RD. Half will go to the patients and half for the locals who come for food packs in the morning.

Interesting entertainment for a family Xmas brunch. Not complaining of course. They did a proper bend over butt show close to another song. The gents in the restaurant cheered, their partners were a tad less impressed. Probably 40 aussies scattered around the place. Went wild 😜

Good bye US, Bangkok bound. Actually the best beverage on Qatar air is the Mint Lemon drink. Although todays seems a little sweeter than on way to US. The bubbles are ok also. 21hrs, 20 minutes JFK-BKK. Yuck.

Sometimes simple works. 2 frozen slices of farmhouse from who knows when, thin coat of hellmans outside both,more inside, good amt Dijon, 24 month cheddar, diced Spanish chorizo,actual ripe tomato, chorizo, cheese,. Bit of butter in pan, brown well.

Foul fucking mood after wasting 75 minutes at bank. Sitting on terrace as struggling to be civil to Indigo wait staff who I’m fond of. Told them I need time out and not let me inside till I’m smiling properly. Got a laugh and a finger point to a table and told to meditate.

30 months, speaks and sings/speaks Thai and Korean and the odd issarn words. Wish my brain could still absorb a new language . Amazing how many smiles 12kgs can produce

Back to Thailand tomorrow, instead of Vietnam as originally planned. COE and PCR results in hand. Arrive Pooket Friday afternoon. Hopefully no one tests positive near me, or me either for that matter. Hope to at least get a cold beach beer on the weekend.

In Thailand since late 1987, more than likely will go up in smoke there. Longer in Thailand than in US. That said, on these short sojourns back to US, family, food, easy life, some temptations to stay for a bit. No bank account, land, or anything except a drivers license though

The Bossy one and I sponsored Miss Mint (and a few others) at school for almost 10 years, family was having difficult time back then. She was waist high when we started. Got a scholarship to study in Japan from Thai Chamber of Commerce. Now has good job back here.

Sheraton+Novotel in Nha Trang both use (for me) rather unpleasant butter/margarine blend on breakfast buffet so when arrive I buy a stick of French or NZ real butter at moonmilk , keep in the mini bar and bring to breakfast. Small tricks to reduce the tedium of hotel living

Woke up, let the old boy out for a pee, the dog, not me Willy, stumbled around looking for phone again. Convinced left in cab last night. HK shows up, yelling at me in thai from in front of gate YOU WERE THAT DRUNK!! 3 times holding my phone she found on the street.

Fark, the walk from Soi 3 to Soi 7 BYS is perhaps even grottier than b4 Covid. Taxi hawkers, dirty smelly side walk,really down hookers, and even one of the African drug guys smiling and giving the big Sniff and a questioning smile. 11am good times on sukhumvit

Quarantine food. A nicely done and tasty duck breast, red cabbage and carrots. Didn’t want the soup or cous cous and feta salad that’s included. A big glass of red included as I’m a loyalty member here.

Stopped at Oscar’s for a glass. The French chef doing staff briefing of tonight’s nice looking specials to a very attentive FOH team that looks to be around 25 people. Wonder how many staff back of house. Little free snack, pays to be nice and polite.

Nice lunch meal at La Vela on Suk 71. Chef Johnny is a great welcoming guy. Kuhn Mam in charge dining room. Pizza was really nice especially the crust, real good. Pasta was ravioli with Parmesan, and Gorgonzola Speck sauce. Visit them

indigo set lunch. Again. Location location. Also frigging lazy. Duck confit Croquettes, followed by frog legs/ratatouille( normally mashed potatoes). Croq’s very good, sauce on edge of a little sweet but personal tastes. 7-8 medium frog legs, ratatouille. Yum

Children’s Day tomorrow down near Suan Pueng. 200 kids, we’ve been doing this for around 20 years already. Mini hot dogs, chicken nuggets we fry, noodle soup, yum, larb Stations, ice creams. Lots of give aways. Bikes, money prizes for best students

Friend ordered a 2200 baht bottle of wine. It’s being served like this. I won’t say where but they did say they were told to be careful as not just local cops checking. That’s a single serve grape juice bottle.

SATURDAY Brunch at mandarin oriental Jakarta. I took the free flow wine, they obviously aren’t used to me. Good oysters, only cooked, they call Rockefellers but really just a good Florentine. I had 16. They have swine and beef etc.

On way to kanchanaburi, 20 thais and me. Mostly older well to do,fun loving group, I’m going to earn brownie points, generally avoid these outings. The Oh you speak thai, oh you can eat Thai food, from the exact same 6-8 people just irritates after 6 yrs. Rest of gang good.
