My bag is too big for the ‘small cabin bag’ allowance on Ryanair, Wizz Air and easyJet.
But it hasn’t stopped me from taking it on every flight I’ve been on for the last 6 years 😂

My advice? Do it - but build in time for error/enjoying the local food and drink!! 🍷

I booked 15 days ago and this option was £83.93 💰
However, I’m using an interrail pass, so it cost me £30.57 💰

You sometimes get chatty couchettes and others, not at all!
This one was the latter which suited me fine. I went off to find an empty compartment to work in and came back at 9pm to find everyone in bed already 😂
I got to bed at 10pm and slept well - I love the train motion!

Whilst you don’t have to on most German trains, you can pay for a seat reservation if you want to for €8.
Fortunately for me, there were plenty of unreserved seats available too and so this is my office for the next 4 hrs!

Thanks to my interrail pass, I can get on this without any problems.
Most operators will also allow you to take the next possible train but make sure you ask for proof of delay from your ticket inspector 🧑✈️

Made it Cologne at 1200 (2 mins behind)!
I headed straight to the ticket office to see whether there was any way I could get on the fully booked 1242 Thalys train to Brussels.
The answer? No.
The solution? Get the 1342 train to Brussels instead (arrives at 1535).

I then have 21 minutes to get to Hamburg Hbf.
To travel the 5.9km there, I could:
🚗 Get a taxi (18 mins)
🚶♀️Walk (1 hour 2 mins)
Fortunately, there’s lots of public transport options too which will get me there in 13 minutes ⬇️
