Imagine being a basketball recruit at a sold out football game. And you’re in the front row on TV with two NBA vets pointing at you. How could you not commit?
Spencer Dinwiddie and Derrick White with Trent Perry, Sebastian Rancik and Doryan Onwuchekwa.
Shaka Smart on Colorado: That's about as good as a 10 seed as I've seen in my life. We started watching tape a couple of days ago and thought, "Damn who made these guys a 10 seed?"
David Bakhtiari is a perfect example for the term earned not given. Not a whole lot of people believed in the undersized, two-star kid from San Mateo, Calif.
Now, as an all-pro and pro bowl selection, he is the best left tackle in the NFL.
Lose your top offensive weapon? No problem.
Lose your most disruptive player on defense? No problem.
Battle injuries throughout the game? No excuses.
One of the guttsiest performances I’ve seen from a football team in a long long time.
ATTN:
I am stoked to announce I’m here to stay! I’ll be the publisher of SI's BuffsCountry covering all things CU sports. Little 7th grade Chase reading Sports Illustrated every week would’ve never believed his first job out of college would be with SI. We did it little Chase.
BREAKING: Former LSU EDGE Quency Wiggins has Committed to Colorado, he tells
@on3sports
The 6’5 265 EDGE was ranked as a Top 55 Recruit in the ‘22 Class👀
“Playing for Coach Prime is gonna mean a lot to me and my family.”
Still a few spots left to be filled on Karl Dorrell’s staff but I think you can already make an argument that it’s better than Tucker’s staff last season and possibly better than his staff at MSU. Just love what Dorrell has been building so far.
I want to thank
@CoachChev6
for his 6 years in Boulder. He completely changed the recruiting landscape for CU and is a big reason why they were even competitive the last 6 years. He’s a passionate and loyal Buff and I hope he can be remembered for the way he elevated the program.
Tad Boyle: "I wouldn't trade KJ Simpson for any point guard in America ... I told him after the game I'd go to war with him every day of the week and twice on Sundays."
One coach, while negatively recruiting CU, asked Seaton, "What? Do you want to be a rapper or something?"
If it wasn't clear enough how coaches across CFB view Coach Prime and his staff, that should clear it up for you.
People feel some type of way about Prime that professionalism has been completely thrown out the window. I am stunned a recruiting director would say this.
I could never imagine not watching sports. Some people spent their night reading a book or some shit. I just went into a state of euphoria and was screaming endlessly in my living room. That’s how Monday nights should be spent.
People of Denver, the Rapids are a great alternative to going to baseball games this season. I know getting to Commerce City is a draw back but C38 has busses that run from Denver bars. It’s $10 for the ride and they provide you with booze. DM if you need more info.
List of special guest so far at CU camp:
Terrell Owens
Michael Irvin
Byron Leftwich
Urban Meyer
Michael Westbrook
Daniel Graham
They combine for 11 Pro Bowls, 7 Super Bowls, 4 National Championships and 3 First Team All-Americans. Not bad.
I don’t know how anybody can support or give money to the Rockies organization going forward. They have proved they don’t care about you. They have no aspirations of winning just filling the party deck. Please spend your money elsewhere. I’m actually begging.
I went to pick up the Denver Post today to see if my story had made the paper. Such a surreal feeling to see it on the front page of the sports section. A tremendous honor to have my byline on the same paper I grew up reading everyday (S/O

and

Anybody that pretends to know “the right way” to roster build in the transfer portal era is absolutely kidding themselves.
Sure, Alabama and Georgia and Texas can do it how they’ve always done it but if you follow them you’re going to stay behind them.
Colorado “fans”, at least the most vocal ones on social media, don’t understand anything about roster building in CFB.
I compared the recruiting class size of the winning programs in CFB to Colorado because I’d look at the teams that win and want to model my programs after them.
On Mel Tucker’s inside zone podcast, Alfred Williams told the story of seeing a Nebraska fan holding a sign that read, “Where is Sal Aunese now?” Back in 1990. Tucker’s response?
“I don’t think I’m going to leave the office tonight.”
Coach Prime just said on the Coaches Show that his dream is to generate so much revenue at Colorado that they can start a baseball program. I love this man.
Say what you want about the Pac-12 network but it’s so refreshing to listen to
@YogiRoth
, someone that actually does his homework on all of CU’s personnel.
Nothing like McKinley Wright putting up 24 in his final home game with Remy Martin on the other side with 6. Couldn’t ask for a much better way to send him off.
Dorrell is already making the right decisions. All four are loved by the players and get the job done on the recruiting trail. How bout Hagan making it through 4 coaching changes and 5 different coaches? That has to be some sort of record.
The No. 1 freaking recruit in the country. I don’t think that can be emphasized enough. If all goes well, Buffs just got their Joey/Nick Bosa, their Chase Young. Absolute game changer.
Brenden Rice on the 247Sports Best of the West podcast: “That’s the reason I waited so long to commit because I wanted to make sure I was locked in. I am definitely locked in with the Buffs. That is 100% no decommitting... And I’m gonna get all these other guys with me.”
“I LOVE Boulder, Colorado.
I don’t plan on being anywhere else in my coaching career.
I want to ride off on a white horse with a black hat, into the sunset in Boulder, winning a championship… Championships, plural.
That’s what I want to do.”
Per 24/7 Brandon Inniss, the
#1
Wide Reciever in America, has been in contact with Coach Prime and may wait until February to sign
“He was just like, ‘Man, I’m just letting you know that I’m going Power Five’ and that he wants me to join him basically,” Inniss said."
Former Alabama linebacker Demouy Kennedy has announced his commitment to the
#CUBuffs
via Instagram. Four-star recruit out of high school. Massive get.
Here are some clips making up for the cancellation of (hypothetical) Week 3 game film. 6 in a row from 50, a kick under pressure (volume up), and a long field goal of 62 for the day!
The NCAA has made the inexplicable decision to deny the immediate eligibility of CU’s Tyler Brown.
Most people don’t know the story behind why he left ULL.
The video in which Tyler opened up on his story to the NCAA will break your heart.
Please watch:
After missing the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour yesterday, I woke up at 4:30 am ET to catch a flight from Tampa to Denver. Just touched down in Colorado. I’m not missing this freaking spring game.
This shouldn’t be a hot take but if any recruit was scared off by the weather in Boulder yesterday, they’re not the player Colorado should be looking for.
Timid and weak.
CU's running back commits Jayle Stacks and Ashaad Clayton combined for 445 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 48 carries this past weekend.
Mel Tucker football.
I don’t know if sources matter at this point but I’ve had plenty of sources confirm this over the last couple of days. It’s happening. I couldn’t get myself to believe it but it’s happening.
Deion Sanders is preparing to take the head coaching job at Colorado, having spent the past week recruiting staff and players to the school, sources tell
@PeteThamel
.
He is expected to leave Jackson State following the SWAC title game.
Playing Texas is tough. Playing Texas with 49 scholarship players is even tougher. They had a commendable effort in the first half but in the end they ran out of gas. It's all good. I saw enough tonight to get me excited for the future.
CU gets a surprise signing from top 12 JUCO recruit Isaiah Jatta. Should provide some immediate help on the OL. Came down to Auburn, Colorado and South Carolina. A lot of credit goes to Snow College teammate
@deuce_roberson
here.
This may be a hot take but I’ve talked to quite a few tight end recruits over the last couple of weeks and I think Taylor Embree might be one of the best hires Karl Dorrell made.
Sources: Kent coach Sean Lewis is the target of Colorado's offensive coordinator search. He's the leading candidate to be Deion Sanders' first OC at Colorado.
