Strange how I’m quite happy standing in front of and teaching hundreds of kids a day, but absolutely terrified of speaking in front of staff for literally 2 MINUTES
I have 2 year 11 English intervention groups on my timetable this year. I have been having a Literature and a Language focus for each lesson…
5 weeks of lessons and resources uploaded on my Google Drive if anyone wants them 😊
254 slides and many weeks later and I have finally finished planning my scheme of work for A Christmas Carol designed for my top set year 11s!
Happy to share if anyone is interested 😊
Would love to know how people find time to manage everything in this profession 😩 how do you juggle lesson planning, marking, socialising with friends, the gym, seeing family, keeping your house clean and presentable???
One of the charity shops I go to has brand new zara stock in regularly. 2 pairs of my favourite trousers ever and a chiffon blouse for £23!!!! What on earth!!!
I’ve created a couple more Paper 1 Language Extracts today. A lot of people were interested last time so I’ve uploaded them all to my Google drive, I hope they help ☺️

My family have been round and done up my garden while I’ve been away for 2 weeks. I am obsessed and in awe of the wonderful people I have in my life 🫶🏻
I’ve planned a short scheme of work for An Inspector Calls if anyone wants a copy…
Our trust has begun teaching the Literature texts in year 10 and building on the analysis and essay skills in year 11, meaning we’ve had to condense it down. It’s worked fab with my group 😊
I have absolutely loved planning for and teaching ‘A Christmas Carol’ to my top set year 11 students. I am still working on my planning on Stave 3, but I wanted to make a thread of some bits of analysis that I have found so interesting! ❄️ 📖
I’ve written a couple of Level 6 essays to use with my groups next year. One exploring the role of Gerald and the other comparing Kamikaze to COTLB. I’ve uploaded them to my Google drive if anyone’s interested 😊

Shock horror that I’ve actually marked the set of books I’ve taken home this weekend, rather than leaving them in the boot of my car and ashamedly carrying them back in on Monday morning 🫣😼
We’re going to be teaching An Inspector Calls for the first time next year, has anyone got any schemes of work/resources they wouldn’t mind sharing? Would be forever thankful ❤️
@Team_English1
Currently waiting for someone from the national welfare for reptiles to come over since this guy hitched a ride on our case home. You couldn’t make it up 🙃
I’ve hardly had any motivation to read since going back to work in September. Someone please tell me they’re the same?! I’ve gone from reading 2 books a week, to 1 a month 😩
Recall recall recall ✏️
I start every single year 11 lesson with 8 quick questions for them to stick in their books and answer. Love it for revision and my group are very quickly picking up the plot and characters now.
Have multiple of these on this ppt if anyone wants them 😊
I’m rereading The Kite Runner ready to teach year 13. I haven’t read it since I was in year 12, I forgot have beautifully poignant and heartbreaking it was…
I am so happy with my new classes. They’re super hard-working, lovely and an absolute pleasure to teach. Honestly this week in the classroom has been a dream 💖
Trying to focus on explicitly teaching vocabulary to my year 11s this half term. 3 new words per creative lesson, that they then practise using in a description of an image. I have found that this works really well for my class! ✏️
