Spending my 59th birthday filming with
@BBCCountryfile
- particularly delightful as I was judged ‘too old’ for TV in my mid 40’s. I’m only here because of other’s campaigning (thank you!) but we’ve a way to go before older women are properly appreciated in media, and beyond.

every week (this programme is on at 0545 weekday mornings, 0630 on Saturdays
@BBCRadio4
- why are you all awake?!) Thank you - we are a small team and really appreciate your company.
This in
@thetimes
today is interesting. I’m 58, I look 58 - both those facts are no doubt bad for my career. The sooner we accept that aging and looking your age isn’t a bad thing the better, surely?
Roger has left the bbc so can say what he likes, I haven’t so can’t! But in my experience a sizeable minority of farmers don’t make a lot. Even if the house is paid for, and some expenses put on the business, it’s not a lot. Why that’s the case is surely a more important question
Research estimates two-fifths of farmers in England earn less than £25,000 a year. I wonder if this includes farm accommodation (worth a lot) and ability to buy stuff from farm stores that has dual domestic use (worth a little). Thoughts?

Thanks so much for all the kind words - amazed at how many have been through this. I’m off the morphine drip and making a bit more sense - apparently today is all about walking (!)
Not going to lie - have spent a lot of today weeping. In pain, more pain and frustration. The bend proving elusive - but I have a new nurse and tomorrow will be better.

Officially recovering! Thank you for all the kind words about my new knee - and for all the support and advice from those who’ve been through this. It’s all about doing the exercises apparently. I’ve just done the whole sheet, there has been much swearing.
I can't tell you whats on

So exciting to see the Lake District Tweeds ready to go. The first four tweeds are Coniston, Windermere, Ennerdale & Ullswater. A great farming in protected landscapes

Earlier this week I had to cancel a vet appointment as (even after half a hour of trying) I couldn’t get the cat in the carrier... husband just smiled at cat, opened the carrier and she sauntered in. I am no longer speaking to either of them.
