I’m coming for your job ;) @richardgaisford. Thanks to everyone @GMB for having me on this morning and raising awareness of the chaos unfolding at British Universities. #SettleTheDispute
'There are some students who will have all their papers marked because their lecturers don't strike, which makes it such an uneven playing field' Third-year politics student, Charlie Gaisford, explains how students are being impacted by university strikes

A fantastic footballer, wishing all the best for a speedy recovery @ColbyBishop29. This underscores the importance of regular heart scans and medical checks, not just for sports professionals, but young people engaged in competitive exercise too @TheBHF
During a routine heart scan as part of the club’s pre-season medical checks, a potential risk was identified to Colby Bishop, who will undergo immediate surgery to rectify this matter. Read the full statement below.

@richardgaisford I still think a live from the Solent on the paddle-board is something I’d like to see 😉

Hi Dr Grady. Thanks for your post. I respect my university staff and I respect your point of view. It’s a real shame you couldn’t give me the same respect last night. Listen to students, understand the pain that has been caused by the boycott. @ucu @DrJoGrady @UCEA1
If you respect university staff then you have to respect their right not to work every weekend, their right to a proper contract and their right to be paid a wage that means they don’t use foodbanks.

Great to meet you last night @DrJoGrady. I agree it would be fantastic to have a follow up show. In any such instance strong student voices from all sides of the debate must be heard in this dispute which consistently forgets about us.
Enjoyed @BBCNewsnight last night but the format made it difficult for the bosses to be pinned down and held to account. The students on the panel did themselves proud 🥹 Hopefully @vicderbyshire can host a follow up where we have a 1-2-1 with the employer 🙏🏻

@Sam_Marsh101 @ucu @UCEA @UCEA1 @BenChu_ There needs to be some kind of local negotiations. It’s the only way I see that can work. With current leadership of UCEA the stalemate will never be broken.

@Sam_Marsh101 @ucu @UCEA @UCEA1 @BenChu_ I agree Sam. But I fear this is the problem, the union itself seems afraid to challenge its own leadership. If Prof Grady was serious about listening to students she would have cared to let me explain last night instead of constantly interrupting me.

@Sam_Marsh101 @ucu @UCEA @UCEA1 @BenChu_ Boyne’s comments were shameful, disrespectful and depressing. No doubt about it. As a student I think it’s hard to forget how voiceless we have been left. It was interesting that last night even your secretary general was keen to shout me down and not allow students a voice.

@Sam_Marsh101 @ucu @UCEA @UCEA1 @BenChu_ After having meetings with my VC, from my understanding negotiating on a local level is hard. The collective bargaining seems to be a thorn in the side of the negotiations with Unis like Bristol suggesting they could afford higher than the 8% offered. And others unable to do so.

@Sam_Marsh101 @ucu @UCEA @UCEA1 @BenChu_ I really appreciate that. But it’s not about me anymore, my university experience has been ruined by the @ucu and @UCEA1. I fear for the next cohort when they arrive in September who will be there to teach them? We can’t inspire the next generation of academics like this!

@Sam_Marsh101 @ucu @UCEA @UCEA1 @BenChu_ I had really hoped when I wrote this letter it would be a call to @UCEA1 to re-negotiate. I am not in a position to understand the intricacies of why this hasn’t happened. I would have hoped that more understanding would have been shown from both sides.

@Sam_Marsh101 @ucu @UCEA @UCEA1 Hi Sam. After being told back in May at at a Bristol UCU meeting that my lecturers aimed to use students as “leverage” in this dispute, I think the word pawn is in probably fair. Undoubtedly @UCEA1 have equal part to play in disregarding students.
