I really hate that thing when you're editing and you think of something to add and so you add it, then you read on a few more sentences and see that you already had it in there, just a bit further down. 😑😆

Found out last night that I've earnt out my UK advance on this book. It was the hardest of all my books to write, and I honestly thought it was rubbish by the time it was finished. Writing is a headfuck. But today it is all worth it, and I am grateful 🥰

Just read a review of one of my books in which the reviewer says they assume I'm not a mother. Ouch.
I dunno, but making comments about an author's personal life seems pretty low to me. Also, I checked and as far as I can tell my daughter is pretty happy/stable/alive... 😢

Years ago I did an Arvon course and one of the tutors told me that most female authors writing full-time had either a 'private income' or a partner who paid the bills.
I think about that a lot. And hope it's not true.

Thanks for all the lovely tweets. This book was a total passion project, I had no idea whether it would get picked up and it was also a real challenge to write. I learnt a lesson - that it's worth taking risks and writing the book that's in your heart. I'm so glad I wrote it.

SO glad we moved the 6yo to a different school. She's come on so much that her teacher described her as 'unrecognisable' from the child who started in September. She's so much happier too. Just proves yet again that one size doesn't fit all when it comes to education.

My parents are moving and had a clear out - look what they found! My first rejection letter, from Random House, in 1998. I was 17! It took me 20 years to get a book deal. I have no recollection of what book I sent them but it made me smile. I’ve been in this game a long time 😱
