Why am I reposting a selfie from 2+ years ago? Because I’m 1 of the 2 people responsible for these mugs existing. We designed them to good-naturedly poke fun at the cranky parts of fandom.
Oh and also? I’ll be donating all of my profits from these mugs this month to the ACLU.
Heard just now over the loudspeaker in SNA:
“Attention passengers. Please double check your items. If you’re missing your lightsaber, please come back to the security desk.”
As someone who's played some of Veilguard, if you want DAO-like horror... it's there. Trust me. All of the environments I got to experience were varied and very much felt like Dragon Age, including the new places. I think Tuesday's gameplay reveal will tone set for the game well.
Women have been an active and prominent part of the Star Wars fandom since long before the Sequel Trilogy began and we will continue to be here long after its conclusion.
DID YOU KNOW...
...that a lot of professional writers got their start with fanfic?
...that not all fanfic is smutty?
...that fanfic is a great way for fans to engage with a story they love by writing things like fix-it fics, missing scenes, what if?, and so on?
Alternatively, Star Wars has plenty of women who kick ass and who girls look up to. We didn’t need one played by an actress who loudly spews hateful, vile things.
Texan Gina Carano broke barriers in the Star Wars universe: not a princess, not a victim, not some emotionally tortured Jedi. She played a woman who kicked ass & who girls looked up to. She was instrumental in making Star Wars fun again. Of course Disney canceled her.
I’m sure saying this will be a mistake but I genuinely thought the trailer was a fun way to introduce the Veilguard companions. Dragon Age has always had a bit of levity in there from time to time and it has the storyteller flair that we all know Varric has.
Okay. So. This happened yesterday.
When I was designing and making this costume, I never once thought there was a chance this would happen.
Thank you SO MUCH to
@erikaishii
for being so freaking cool and kind and for creating Danielle Barkstock and making me love her so much 💜
Star Wars has always been political but how anyone can watch Revenge of the Sith in particular and then turn around and complain about the new films being “too political” is just... baffling to me. GL was about as subtle as a bag of bricks.
Gentlemen: If you do things like this, cut it out. If you friends do things like this, tell THEM to cut it out.
Put gatekeeping in the dumpster where it belongs.
Apologies to our intern who accidentally stumbled into my ability to give a full blown lecture regarding Star Wars canon at the end of our work meeting earlier.
I’m so mad at everyone who didn’t take this pandemic serious and who still doesn’t. I’m so mad at the people who can’t think of someone but themselves for ONE FUCKING MINUTE and wear a mask. And I’m so mad at the leadership in this country who failed us and continue to fail us.
~Presenting Empress Anima of the Eidolons~
Look, I already loved Yelle but the minute Erika start describing her masquerade ball outfit, a part of me knew I’d have to make it🧡
Danielle Barkstock is from
@dimension20show
’s “The Seven” and played by the incredible
@erikaishii
This is absolutely the pettiest reason but if they could call the election already so I can figure out if I'm ordering celebration food tonight for dinner or just food-food, that would be helpful to me.
There is one Star Wars character whose story was cut tragically short and who deserves a chance to show what they could achieve when given an opportunity. Stories about them would just be a license to print money.
I’m talking, of course, about Millicent the Cat.
It's the smallest thing but do you see this Rebel trooper? Her just casually existing in this scene in
#Battlefront2
means the world to me because it wouldn't have happened ten years ago.
I don’t really want a Boba Fett film. I also don’t really want a Leia film. We already know about their origin stories. What I want are Star Wars films that focus on new characters and eras which is why I’m so excited for Rian’s trilogy. But that’s just me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Honestly at this point, I’d just like to talk about Star Wars and how it makes me happy and never even think about the parts of “fandom” that seem hell bent on ruining it for the rest of us.
“[Rey] is the first female Star Wars character to be doing the saving rather than needing to be saved.” is so wrong that it’s infuriating and Marie Claire should feel bad for having included it in their piece about Daisy Ridley.
No one else in the galaxy is as brave as Leia "Tells Darth Vader to his face she doesn't know about any Death Star plans when he saw her ship leave with them ten minutes ago" Organa.
I’m super excited to finally reveal that I’ve been a part of the Community Council for Dragon Age: The Veilguard for the last few years!
I can’t say much more (except that this pic’s from a Council visit to BioWare Austin) but it’s been the best experience.
Dragon Age Summer!🐉
When the world first met Kelly Marie Tran, she was the girl who had won a golden ticket — and wanted to bring everyone along on her tour of the chocolate factory. Then 'The Last Jedi' came out, and everything changed for the 'Star Wars' star
Every time someone speaks dismissively about Rey and the fans who love her, I think about the dad who spoke up in a panel I moderated 6 months after TFA came out and how he spoke passionately about how Rey had finally sparked a true love for Star Wars in his two young daughters.
Hi. I wrote a personal piece about Aphra for Pride Month. I’m grateful to LFL for once again giving me the opportunity to write so personally about a character who means a lot to me and I’m grateful to everyone who helped create Aphra over the years. ✨🌈
Friendly reminder that Doctor Aphra volume 2 (a comic about a lesbian Asian woman who is a relatively new character in Star Wars) was the
#2
best selling comic trade in February this year.
If you’re upset that
#StarWarsResistance
is being targeted towards a younger audience, please do the following:
1. Hush.
2. Remember that not everything has to be for you.
3. Continue hushing and let kids enjoy this show.
Getting very very tired of the insinuation from some parts of fandom that the only happy ending for a female character (and by extension, women in general) has to involve a relationship with a man and also children.
I am proud of the work I have done for Star Wars over the years. I also have no regrets about all the times I have raised my voice in favor of diversity and will continue to do so in the future.
Apparently I haven’t posted pictures of my Seventh Sister recently/often enough judging by the replies to yesterday’s tweet! So uhhh hi yes I have a Seventh Sister costume. It’s been Legion approved for almost 3 years now 😁
Operation: Cinder first appeared in the fantastic comic “Star Wars: Shattered Empire” by Greg Rucka, Marco Checchetto, Angel Unzueta, and Emilio Laiso and it’s been fantastic seeing so many other books, games, and now shows use that horrific event and weave their stories together
Real Talk: Star Wars Resistance consistently gets the short end of the stick. It was such a diverse cast of heartfelt characters and I truly hope we get to see more of them again. (Especially the Dozas!)
Nothing's going to change until people like I*t*c*h*y and E*V*S (who've hurled abuse for YEARS) are deplatformed. And nothing's also going to change until certain parts of fandom also have to confront their own racism. This crap has gone on for far too long.
Today is very special for me. I had the honor of writing the bonus page article about Padmé Amidala. It is an incredibly personal piece about what she means to me and many others from the Prequel generation. I am grateful to Marvel and LFL for letting me write this.
Cannot believe I just had to read a tweet with my own eyes going on about how Leia never got her redemption.
SHE DOESN'T NEED TO BE REDEEMED BECAUSE SHE DID NOTHING THAT WOULD REQUIRE IT
There’s so much I could say about how wonderful Queen’s Shadow is but won’t b/c spoilers. For now, let’s just say you won’t be able to watch the Prequels the same way ever again. I’m thrilled that Padmé and her handmaidens finally have the spotlight.
We are brave, Your Highness.
Queer and here. Or at least until Vader shows up and then we’ll have to skedaddle real fast because Aphra definitely didn’t part on good terms with him, WHOOPS. 💫🏳️🌈
What’s that? You want a Star Wars story about a woman of color where she’s the true lead, doesn’t have her story co-opted by a man, has agency throughout, and has a satisfying character arc?
Can we please just lose the casually snide and looking down your nose in a superior manner comments about the Prequels? It’s been 20 years since TPM and I think we’ve established by now that a lot us love them. Move on.
Yes, Luke Skywalker is my favourite Star Wars character.
Yes, I think Battlefront II had some of his best moments as a Jedi.
I will die on this hill.
(Shoutout to
@matthewmercer
and
@TJRamini
for their amazing performances!)
My Solas feelings are that I hate him deeply and I want my Inquisitor to get to punch him in the face and maybe for my Rook to bite his ankles like a feral goblin but also that he’s a very good, well written character.
GOOD MORNING so because I got through the end of Act 2 of Dragon Age 2 last night, I am making you all look at my Grey Warden Bethany Hawke costume again because it was a lot of work and I am very proud of it 💙
I think that one of the purest displays of love in Star Wars is Rey and Finn’s hug on Crait and it doesn’t even matter if it was romantic or platonic. That was love right there.
Hux reaching for his blaster to shoot Kylo and then immediately pretending he didn’t the minute Kylo wakes up is the funniest shit. I love that petty, horrible man.
Does Rey hold a unique position in Star Wars film heroines? Yes. But..... HONESTLY have they never seen the very first Star Wars film ever made? With, y’know, Princess Leia “Somebody has to save our skins” Organa?
