North Carolina is now 1-10 against Quad 1 opponents. The Tarheels have 7 games remaining (plus the ACC Tournament) and of the 7, four are Quad 3 games, one Quad 2 game, one Quad 4 game, and a Quad 1a (Duke). - North Carolina is probably not going to make the tournament, but if they want a chance it’s apparent they go undefeated to end the season. A Quad 3 or Quad 4 loss would be the nail in the coffin, but even if they lose their Quad 2 game on the road against FSU or their game against Duke, they’ll be at best 7-11 across quads 1&2. So, assuming they go 7-0 they’ll still need to win an ACC Tournament game or two.

My last four in are: - San Diego State - Georgia - Texas - Arkansas My first four out are: - SMU - BYU - UC San Diego - San Francisco Obviously it’s only February, but IF the tournament started today, there would be a few things to adjust on this. - Wake Forest would tie 2023 NC State for the team(s) with the fewest quad 1 wins to receive an at large (One). - BYU would have the best predictive metrics AVG to ever miss the tournament (32.3), beating 2022 Oklahoma (32.7) - Arkansas would tie Notre Dame 2022 for the worst record against quads 1&2 opponents to receive an at-large at 4-9.
I took a dive into the bubble picture in “normal” seasons (2019,2022,2023, & 2024) and sorted through some facts. It’s important to remember every bubble/team has different contexts.

@Trusoles No doubt New Mexico is hot and a really good team. I think you’ve opened my mind on this and I’ll considered adjusting accordingly next week. If you go through my tweets you’ll know I love the Lobos!

@Trusoles I definitely do watch Mountain West basketball, in fact I was very torn over Miss St vs New Mexico. I went with Miss St because New Mexico has two pretty brutal losses unfortunately.

@TNCOWBOY0 Yeah it is strange. I’d imagine Florida’s big wins in non con plus Tennessee the first time and now Auburn on the road really boost those metrics. Tennessee still will hold the last one seed for me.
