Nurses are experiencing extreme anxiety, panic, exhaustion and irritability. We are spent physically & mentally. Stop coming to our workplaces and yelling in our faces. Your harassing us. We clearly don't make the rules and don't deserve to be terrorized.

Dr Yaffe tries to reassure that COVID is rare in elementary school age kids. Then indicates they still support 2m distancing.

how will that work with no red’n in class size?

I saw 5 people sleeping on Bay Street this am, no tarps and in pouring rain/hail. That's how bad the

system is. What street outreach is still funded on weekends?

Honestly media expressing concern that the premier needs a vacation leads to a love-in by him on who's working the hardest, the Minister for LT care, the Mayor, etc? Oh give me a break. Talk to shelter workers, frontline outreach workers, nurses.
This is how they voted on the motion that the state of homelessness in Toronto is a human rights disaster akin to a municipal emergency. Let your councillor know what you think. This is far from over.
I'm now 3 days Loblaws free. Involves a lot of extra time to shop but exploring new stores & supporting independents is worth it.

BREAKING! Warming Centres opening for this evening. Thanks to

and councillors and citizens for your advocacy.
All spaces are available by walk in:

Take action: Toronto needs more public washrooms. The City of Toronto is voting on this next week but we need to put pressure. That's why I signed

Dear media. It's probably a good idea to not call me about the new wonderful "cooling network" that Toronto is running. If you can't see through the hype amidst worsening conditions for homeless, poor, vulnerable people I can't help you. Everyone in the sector knows it sucks.
Need help: The City of Toronto cancelled
#coolingcentres

and vulnerable people and replaced them with a 'network'. Can you do an interactive exercise with me, click on the map and tell me where it directs you to go?

“There's literally no logic in the decision apart from it means that money that was going to this will go elsewhere,” Crowe said, adding that this will put more pressures on community health centres and hospitals that will be tasked with providing care..2
Have to thank the producers and of course
@spaikin
for a seamless interview covering decades of a nursing career, that as Steve coined, involved “death and destruction”. Many are telling me it is helping them understand the political context of the issues.
Every day, thousands of people in Ontario face poverty and homelessness, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. What are we doing wrong? Street nurse

Toronto: how did your councillor vote yesterday?
Attack on the motions was by the old guard. These councillors voted to not declare Homelessness a Public Health Crisis and against immediate opening of 24/7 warming centres until mid April....Names here: 2
The mistakes in long-term care are being repeated in shelters. Part-time workers working multiple sites, some that are in outbreak. Managers working from home....2
The term nurse-extender is incredibly insulting. 🙏to the docs advocating for nurses. Lots of nurses can’t speak out but
@birgitomo
always calls it like it is. 🙏 Hospital CEOs please step up together and demand an emergency province wide mtg with the Premier and Minister….2
Hearing of doctors being paid to work as "nurse-extenders" in one of the hospitals in Ontario. So you mean the system can pay doctors to be nurses, but nurses can't get more than 1% pay raise? The fight is definitely against female-dominated professions. Doctors are NOT nurses.
How is this acceptable
@winterstations
@BradMBradford
@marymargaretbey
@beynate
? Thousands at event. City needs to 1) winterize this washroom 2) not issue permits for events if organizers don’t provide washrooms AND there are better options than this poorly serviced supplier.
I will invite the Ombudsman Susan Osler tomorrow to show her how and why over 500 people sleeping on floors in venues that are not shelters is dangerous, unhealthy and a violation of basic human rights. That is a shelter crisis.

As a new storm sweeps into Toronto tomorrow our shelter system remains collapsed. Warming centres have been full and the city squeezing 49 spaces into existing shelters and seemingly relaxing Covid standards is dangerous. We need shelter-hotel rooms.
