Kansas City Star sent me out to scout out 1st round opponent for Kansas: Holy Cross. I dialed back: we got a problem. These white boys can play. Sure enough. Round 1 as a 16 seed Holy Cross took a team of 4 NBA players to the wire in St. Louis. Gave em the bidness.

I have a history here. When I got to the Washington Post in 2003 George Washington was an emerging program. Covered them thru two NCAA Tourney trips. I feel similar vibes with UC San Diego.....
