@cogsci_soc Hi! 👋 I'm Carolyn. I study metacognitive confidence in children. I look at how people make sense of confusing and often conflicting input by comparing and combining information from different sources. I'm also examining how confidence influences social cognition.

👇 And apply more than once if you're still eligible! The reviewers and other applicants often change each time, so you never know!
I won two prestigious awards for my dissertation. How did I do it? I applied. Good research isn’t enough. You can’t win anything unless you submit an application. Believe in yourself.

So unbelievably proud of my lab sister @DpDramkin! She could have filled a bingo card of "things that could go wrong during your PhD", but persevered and defended a beautiful dissertation today.
Today we are celebrating our amazing @DpDramkin! She just defended her PhD dissertation and not even COVID could hold her down! Congratulations, Dr. Dramkin! ✨ You are an outstanding researcher and we are all so proud of you!

@saraannhart Consulting! So many academics do it but it was so hidden. Make sure to talk about reasonable rates - I got told to charge $60/hour by other grad students and that was WAY undervaluing my skillset.

@DorsaAmir Hmm, i got very high verbal and like 30th% visual. But now I'm confused, because my memories are part visual, but actually more like a weird sense about the spatial arrangement of a scene, plus actions, plus the emotional state I was feeling at the time?

Check out work with @celestekidd and @JanEngelmann5, presented virtually at #CogSci2023! We're finding that children attend to confidence to compare and integrate others' beliefs. They trust high confidence beliefs, but pick a midpoint when confidence is equal (by 8 years old).

@DorsaAmir Omg I feel so seen. I sometimes write in notes like "don't judge me, I don't know how to implement a dictionary in R so we're stuck with this" to warn future readers/myself to be nice Also a fun easter egg for anyone reading my code one day!
