Down at the barrage today & wondering if this building next to the fine old custom house building will ever be saved? Such a shame to see it continue to decline. Easy for me to say but maybe a coupla £million & it would be a great asset to the area a building we'd be proud of🤞

Great to see The Cottage is back!! Well nearly, this friday apparently. Anyway it was worrying to see this legendary pub shut for so long and wondering what the plan was 🤔 Well fortunately plenty more of this 🍻🍻 and I'll be doing my bit! 'hic' 😊 Long live The Cottage!

Churchill way canal now open! Still a fair bit of finishing touches, but generally very impressed!! When it stretches the length (almost) of the road even better. But so far so good!! 🙂👍

Love our new little stretch of canal at churchill way, and with plants getting established looking better all the time. Mind you a beautiful sunny day helps. Got me wondering if the plan remains to reveal canal the length of this rd. And when work on next section will start🤔👍

Small trees now planted along wood st, and they look great! But will they be.. town centre, 1 or more over the 8, moron proof? I really hope so. Mind you I feared the same about the trees planted outside HMRC and so far so good. I should have more faith in people - we'll see 🤞

At last activity at Guildford Crescent, & 1st job seems to be demolishing the old buildings facades😲. They are considered to be in such a bad condition that they need to be cleared & new build will have a new 'replica' of the original building fronts 🤔. Anyway work underway 👍

Premier Inn - Customhouse St, nearly there! They've been building this forever! About 10yrs 🤔 ago they knocked down the old York Hotel for this one, & in typical Cardiff style all but the facade of the original custom house. Anyway looks like they'll be welcoming guests soon 👍

So the Parkgate Hotel opens next week. Every day it's looking more of a class act - this lighting appeared today. Fantastic use of this wonderful building. I hope it's a great success! Lower Westgate St is becoming quite a busy little area 👍

Central Quay aptmts update... so the central core is almost complete, 91metres. And now the tallest structure in Cardiff - 2nd tallest in Wales (107m meridian quay, swansea, the tallest). We will have to wait for plot 5, central sq @ 113m🤞 to hold the Welsh title!! 🌇🏆🏴 👍

So this is Cardiff's tallest building & seemingly soon to be open for business! It's so tall I couldn't fit it all in this shot🙃 However if plot 5 comes to fruition in front of media wales, then this one wont even be the tallest in wood st! City of shadows eh🤭... bring it on!

Really looking forward to seeing the Cory building (Bute St) restored to former glory, to become the 6th form college. But as yet still no apparent activity🤔 The accomm dev. for the actual students over in pierhead st. is in full swing. So when will they get busy at Bute St?

Central Quay - plot 1 crane base secured in place today. In approx. 1 month the tower crane to be construced, probably the biggest this city has seen 🤔 It's getting to be a hive of activity over there!

This is the kind of graphic that you're more likely to see for cities with, slightly more impressive skylines than little old Cardiff! Which is of course where I step in!😉 But it does show "we are on the up!" Maybe.. some over 100m before NYC starts to feel threatened by us!😅

Coal Exchange looking better nowadays, probably than it did in 1904 when the worlds 1st ever £1,000,000 deal was struck! Some controversy in it's saving, but what would it now be without that intervention? Condemned 🤔 and too expensive for anyone to rescue. Looking good today👍

This is the nightime view from the smart bridge at capital qtr. This view has changed a fair bit in recentish times, oh and the bridge has changed also! The view will change again soon as a 24 storey tower will spring up just this side of zenith building.

How long it will be before Callaghan Sq. will be fully used/appreciated as a public open space🤔 Probably that won't be until it's South side has buildings that enclose it? There were plans for that 10yrs-ish ago but recently no development proposed, & the Sq remains under used.

Gramercy Tower, Curran Rd. Still about 7 floors to go on this one, making it a lofty 86m, a slim tower👍 Anyway the cladding & other internal finishing work is climbing up the building at a fair rate. Renters will be moving in the lower levels before building topped out 😅

The old bank on James St / Bute St in Butetown has scrubbed up really well!! What a beautiful building 👍 and a superb job restoring it's beauty. Ground floor I believe is to be a restaurant and Upper floors apartments. More of this throughout Butetown please! 🙂👍

New Premier Inn opens tomorrow - at last! It seems like a very long time ago that the already ceased trading york hotel (pub) was demolished for this(just checked it was 2017) Anyway another 248 hotel rooms now available in our city centre, also a bar and restaurant.

I'm a big fan of this view down Trade St. to city centre. As a matter of interest 🤔 Brickworks, on right, replaced non-descript units - well other than the fact that the manic st preachers had a studio there! Rock-n-Roll!! 🎸 apparently the boys were regulars in trade st cafe☕️

Central Quay expands into station car park. Looks like this is for next phase... the multi-storey car park, and maybe that (originally named Ledger) office building? Meanwhile that central core still has about 12 more levels to go. But 13 not shown, it's a construction thing 🤔👍

Guildford Cresc.. looks like their will be 2 cranes to build this 96m tower, my photo doesn't really show it but these are the most substantial crane bases I've seen locally. A sign close by says road closures nightly til 19th - so these two will appear on skyline in days 🏗🏗

For some time now it's been pretty busy the other side of the track! However, starting early next year the southside of the station will be where the construction action is. The massive central quay development gets underway in january (I believe 🤔) I say, bring it on!!! 🏗🌃🏗

On a glorious winters day like today, I couldn't resist a hike to one of my favourite places to view our city centre/bay. So this is the view from Pembroke Terrace just by St Augustine's church, Penarth. This view never disappoints, but a clear day makes it all the better! 🙂

If you are interested in development progress at central quay - the Interchange or pretty much the whole city centre, then the view from Penarth Rd bridge is worth a look! Hopefully central quay construction will start soonish - & of course I'll keep you posted from this bridge👍

Work has re-commenced on the Interchange development at Central Sq following the festive break. Now just a guesstimate but I would say the main construction is only about 1/3 complete & already it's v. impressive! It's going to be a big yr for this development & Central Sq👍

There are big plans for ambitious developments south of Penarth Road, hopefully coming to fruition in the not too distant. Residential development Brickworks is the 1st to populate this historic area, and taking it's place in this pic of Trade St. I took today.

This is Gramercy Tower curran rd, just over half way up - central core 16th level. As viewed from observation platform of cardiffwalesmap HQ - ie the attic! Anyway looks like that crane will be needing extra height very soon, looking forward to seeing just how they do that 🤔
