Holy crap! Church across from my kids school was having a rummage sale. $5 for these cards … bunch of 2013 BBM Japanese cards. Look who I found!
2013 BBM Shohei Ohtani!

Beeen at this hobby for 35+ years. I know it’s not licensed; I know the auto runs off the sticker.
It’s worth less than Bowman Chrome Draft, but not worthless.
I appreciate all the positivity. You’re not going to hurt my feelings with your opinions about what this card isn’t.
Oh, hello. Thank you for waiting for me in this guy’s bargain box. My son and I didn’t get to the local mall show until 3 pm. THIS is a big win for $10 I think.
A work in progress Part II: Finally got these cases on the same wall. I actually could use a third. 🤔 These are from Pennzoni. Top on is current model:
You’re 12 years old, and dad says let’s go for a drive. You hit a Walmart, buy out all the discount blasters and drive up the mountain to break in peace. How ya feelin?

Dear
@eBay
“found a better price” shouldn’t be an acceptable reason for a return for any item bought on your auction site, even if through BIN. Furthermore, stop allowing returns on collectibles — outside of special circumstances. It’s a volatile market, prices change quickly.
Showcases are often filled with stuff not many can afford … so it’s refreshing to see raw and mostly PRICED cards instead of slabs that folks have to check comps on before making a deal every time.
Showcases don’t need price minimums. Props to them for being different.
At the National I saw so many display cases similar to the one in this picture, $1-$20 cards. Personally I feel like they should go in a value box and it’s a waste of a showcase but what do you guys think?
Ever since 1989, when I started to really collect Roger Clemens, I had this desire to own a 1985 Topps TIFFANY card after seeing it listed in Beckett. They were not readily available back then, and even when I could consider owning one, they were expensive.
Finally, I own one.
That one time I gambled on a single 1996-97
@UpperDeckSports
SPX basketball back upon release and won. Just a base card but this wasn’t cheap; and only ONE card per pack. Forever a PC item.
Dude ... are you kidding me? 50 cents each?! I’m scared for the future of our hobby...
And yes, they’re real.
1974 is one of my favorite Ryan’s of all time.
Decisions have to be made—and it is MY decision — but my HOF rookie collection is being broken up. Not all are available — still keeping items like big t206s, Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, Mays etc — but you may want to pay attention to eBay in the coming days.
🙏🏼
Let us also appreciate this bit of imagery. That’s Randy Arozarena’s 2020
@Topps
Stadium Club rookie autograph. My son pulled it the same day I pulled my DeGrom auto /10.
Just got the phone with
@Topps
about this redemption and they say there is nothing they can offer … but “you can try eBay, some people do collect the redemption cards.”
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
We like to talk a whole lot about the Junk Wax Era like it was a terrible time, but I bet A LOT of people had fun and have lifelong memories from the time. Don’t dismiss the value of your experiences - they are not worthless.
We’re visiting my girlfriend’s family. It’s Day Two. Girlfriend says: “You’re on vacation too, Ben. Go be happy. Just be back before dinner.”

Oh my … this is happening right now on WhatNot. I admittedly did not stick around to see if this was a parody. But dude is breaking 1991 Donruss with gloves.
Son pulled a Barack Obama! That’s kinda awesome. Keep your political thoughts to yourself, this is a cool card for an 8-year-Old to pull from a pack. Period.
I’ve decidedly opted to stay away from much of the digital collecting stuff. It’s confusing, I’m 40 and I like to hold stuff. I may regret it; but that’s where I am.
Enjoy.
NFT: Not For This (guy)
Things that make me cringe: the sales of my BC Trout, Prizm Pink Pulsar Luka & Jordan Fleer RC.
Things that help me keep it together: Every slabbed HOF rookie I got prior to 2017. NO WAY I’d even come close to this today.
Appreciate what you STILL have; don’t dwell on the past.
Yeah!!!!!!!! Last pack of the box!
The boy just hit this

Today my son turns 9. And on this birthday, he will experience
@Athletics
playoff baseball in person. Can’t wait to see his reaction to a PACKED Coliseum today.
So ... my ex-wife just messaged me, telling my that my son bought a pack at a toy store in a local mall. Of course it was 1987
@Topps
and you KNOW he had to hit that McGwire. ❤️❤️❤️. Legitimate proud dad moment.

12 years ago I stayed home and wound up winning an eBay auction that changed what I thought was possible. The auction was for this 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig (High). This would eventually lead to me getting 51 Bowman Mantle in 2010 and my 33 Goudey Ruth in 2012.
Know what’s wrong with the hobby these days? Need not look further than the hobby arc of Jose Abreu. Five years ago this was a $250 card. He wins ROY, hits 30/100 while around .290 for six straight years. Exceeds expectations. And it’s now a $25 card. Ridiculous.

Tired of looking at Card Saver-type holders. Decided to put my
Raw vintage in a binder. This is much more fun. I have more elsewhere but this was near my card clutter.
A few days ago I got a pkg from
@LaytonSports
who wanted to send my son something after reading about his frustrations at the LCS. My tweet was NOT a solicitation, however Rich wanted to send something anyway.
Speechless. 😳
He’ll open tonight.

The way some of you feel about seeing “Project 2020” in your timelines is probably how I feel every time I see someone post “Did I do good?” along with their 47 mega boxes and blasters of new product. Enjoy.
Curious: Have you ever thought about the amount of depression and anxiety that is suffered by members of our hobby. We often joke and play about how we are addicted to our hobby. But really, it’s more than just a hobby for some. Surely I’m not the only who thinks about it.
If you like the player.
If you like the card design.
If you like the price.
BUY. THE. CARD.
Don’t worry about if the card increases or decreases in the future.
How many of you have a card desk/area that looks like this right now? Don’t be shy... raise those hands. I know I’m not the only one.

The Kaboom insert craze is reminiscent of the hype around The Elite Series. It should be noted that while there are likely far more Elites printed, they were much harder to get than today’s inserts.
I’m taking too much joy in this. Ever since his issues with social anxiety became public I’ve become a bigger fan of this guy. Be you, be different. Do what makes you feel good, as long as it’s not hurting anyone else.
I actually have a request for
@Fanatics
as they go forward with the
@Topps
name and products…
Can you PLEASE stop making reprints? ALL Reprints. Just put those in the things in the vault for 10-20 years and let the existing originals live their life.
Thank you,

HUGE shoutout to
@LaytonSports
for the box of 2020

Triple Threads he gifted to my son. Tony pulled a White Whale Edgar Martinez 1/1 auto relic! Also an Acquino RC auto and BOTH emerald parallels were A’s players, including Chapman - HIS fav team and player. Thx Rich!

True story, last Monday my son and I went out looking for cards. We ran into the new basketball repacks. Felt like a good deal for him.
I shit you not one of his repack had a 2018-19 Playoff Contenders retail pack in it. Of course he pulled 🔥.
Luka-Trae dual rookie relic
Today marks I believe the fifth or sixth consecutive trip to the LCS where my kid has had money in his pocket but he doesn’t see anything that’s in a price range he’s comfortable paying. Depressing honestly. Thankfully he’s not giving up, and Santa has a few things for him. ;)
Ohhhhh hellllllll yeahhhhhhh!!!!
The boy with some FIRE to round out 2020.

Dude advertises he’s selling his entire collection. Everything is slabbed … except his “1933 Goudey Babe Ruth.” C’mon, man.
Red. Flag.
Don’t fall for this kind of stuff, folks. If the modern is slabbed, and the iconic vintage cards aren’t, that’s a problem.
Absolutely losing my ish going through some 1996
@UpperDeckSports
SPX I’ve got sitting around from a break 10 years ago. We need holograms back in our lives. A thread ...
Before “The Elite” was a wrestling thing, it was a baseball card thing. ;) 1991-1996, complete. I’m re-enjoying stuff as Find it again in my collection.

I acquired this via
@CheckOutMyCards
last year during a game in which Ohtani was making a bit for a perfect game. Surely the price was more than at any other time, but I regret nothing. Still one of my favorite purchases over the last 18 months.
Man … feels like a huge uptick in “Just pulled this, what’s it worth?!” posts over the last week.
Show off your cards, please do! But we all know you can find “value” information on eBay.
C’mon …
Today is NBA Opening Day. I presented my kid with a present. He didn’t want me to take a picture of him. But he gave me a giant hug afterward. Warriors kid finally has himself a
