Have you heard the news? The Family Engagement Working Group presented its priorities and strategies for the first time at EPIQ (Evidence-based Practice for Improving Quality) conference. CPBF's Executive Director, Fabiana Bacchini has partnered with Dr Jessica Duby and Dr Marsha Campbell-Yeo to spearhead this group in 2025 with a focus on skin-to-skin across Canada. Do we have skin-to-skin figured out in Canada? Check out the random survey slide...we have work to do! Follow our progress as we work to have babies in skin-to-skin sooner across the country. This Working Group has been a decade in the making. Congratulations to all on making this dream a reality! #skintoskin #epiq #bestpracticesinnicu #advocatingforfamilies #cpbf

Families aren’t visitors. This is a passion project for CPBF to continue to advocate for the rights of families to be together in all hospital policies in Canada. Families are not an add-on to their baby’s care, they are the centrepiece. The evidence is clear: babies do better and their NICU stays are shorter with families present and involved. Want to hear more? Listen to CPBF’s passionate Executive Director Fabiana Bacchini on @nicupodcast to be inspired! #familiesinallnicus #familiesarenotvisitors #evidencebasednicucare #nicubestpractices

💜Join Us LIVE for an Important Preemie Chat! 📅 Friday at 1 PM EST 📍 Live on Facebook, X, & YouTube When a newborn requires NICU care, they are often separated from their birth parent—a difficult and potentially traumatic experience for both baby and parent. But what if we could change that? At IWK Health in Halifax, NS, a quality improvement initiative called Couplet Care is transforming the NICU experience. This innovative approach keeps parents and babies together in the same hospital room, ensuring: ✅ Zero separation or early reunification ✅ Better bonding & emotional support ✅ Improved postpartum experience for parents ✅ Enhanced developmental care for preterm & ill infants Join us as we welcome Gail MacRae Sly, Clinical Nurse Specialist at IWK Health, to discuss how Couplet Care is making a real difference in NICU care. With over 20 years of neonatal experience, Gail acts as the neonatal lead in implementing couplet care in the NICU to promote and support infant-parent togetherness. She is heavily involved in the care coordination of infants and families admitted to the NICU 💬 This is a conversation you won’t want to miss! Whether you're a NICU parent, healthcare professional, or advocate, this live session will offer insights, support, and hope
