been holding onto this for the last month and a half or something, but today is my first day as an editorial fellow
@pitchfork
. cant really put into words how excited i am for the next 6 months
last week i got the chance to talk to
@t6mikee
about touring being a spiritual experience for him & how our relationship with grief evolves for faders podcast
honestly, I will be that person for you. it is fun to gang up on me. I *see* the convos that bring you together in your owning of me. I make it easy. have fun.
kinda sad to say this but today's my last day at p4k as a fellow. 🥲 i try not to tweet about work ever (lol) but it's been a big part of the last 6 months for me. between fact-checking and other things, i got to contribute some stuff i'm proud of and ill thread it under here.
the fact that the default culture of the internet is black -- and the people driving conversations on the internet are black -- is beyond crazy when u think about what kinds of people get talked when "internet culture" is covered
the voyeuristic bits of following regional rap online are just so upsetting man. all that treating humans like action figures and prodding them and playing indictment board simulator and trying to piece together real life beef just makes me hate it all sometimes
the drum patterns in chicago drill were so crazy cuz of all the influences those producers were pulling from. they had juke & footwork drums and drumline/drill team cadences all over their shit
forgot to share this last week since it went up right before thanksgiving, but i wrote a little bit about thug, mick jenkins, and how they've stripped down their songwriting to makre sure folks are really listening for
@thefader
really love carti cuz he knows that each project is just him getting closer & closer to how he *really* wants shit to sound. these long ass periods between projects are really just him making sure it sounds like a full step above and not a half step
.
@babyfaceray
is our guest on this week's episode of The FADER Interview. Listen to his conversation with
@callenderdates
about Detroit rap's outsize influence and his own long road to success.
rap so funny like that rn cuz everyone super tapped into certain scenes. would be cool if more rappers were honest about who music they were fr listening to instead of throwing out some generic ass answers lol
it’s something about larry june that’s mad funny to me hes like a cartoon character
why did he say “hold on mike i’m bout to go in” like he was about to go crazy only to start rapping Slightly faster 😭
two weeks ago i asked hitech to make a moodboard for their insane and hilarious new album detwat (easily 1 of the years best) and we dove into it for this week's column
