I have never felt so vindicated by a community note. This is the person whose "art" ending up being AI hurt me on such a deep level I am now nearly five art pieces into my own series, born out of pure spite. Fuck you Petravoice, you are not an artist. You are a glorified thief.

The origin of my Muses series. I found out about Petra's work being AI on May 13th. At that time I didn't know which artists could have been used in the AI, or what pop surrealism was, I just wanted that aesthetic in a real piece of art, so I did it myself.

What a thing to wake up to. Quoted is an OBS screen recording I just threw together. There are my layers. It's depressing, AI took style from real human artists, and now because I'm reclaiming that style in my own art, the AI detectors think it isn't real.

Rather than sharing wip pics I'll be sharing timelapses as I go. 50 min into under 2, slowed down where I did detail work. These usually take a few days to draw, but I've got a ton of work to do this month. I at least want to finish it before June is over!

They literally have no idea what a study is. It's not "painting over", you're confusing that w/ stable diffusion. A study is involves trying to replicate a photo or still life, to STUDY how to draw it. If you can't see where my painting differs from the ref, that's not my fault.

I named the first girl Spite because that's why I started making her. But, that feeling was eventually overshadowed by the joy and frustrations of real art creation. I don't draw my Muses with spite anymore, and regardless of how it started, I want them to stand on their own.

More progress on Doe! #wip. People ask how I get the blurry look, it's a combination of lassoing areas for gaussian blur, KYLE smudge brushes, and an airbrush I made for myself.

I would LOVE to be known as the blueberry bish. I loved doing this study, I did them one by one left to right, so I could see how I improved each time. It's called a study, a way for an artist to cultivate their skill. Not surprised that concept is foreign to him.

@consumerofsugar You're right, AI has practical uses. I am in full support of AI tools, specifically TOOLS. I drew my Blind Priestess piece too small to be sold on INPRNT so I put it through Waifu2x, an AI program that magnifies images without quality loss. Still 100% my art, helped by AI.

In fact, I was struggling on this piece and suddenly remembered a clip of him painting clouds I saw when I was a kid. I tried out the technique and it translated from traditional to digital perfectly! Bob Ross's lessons are still helping artists nearly 30 years after his death.
@ParkSiart I respectfully disagree. Even if he didn't push the limits of art like Pollock, Van Gogh, Duchamp etc, he contributed to the evolution of art by dedicating himself to introducing others to painting, teaching basic techniques in an accessible way, and inspiring countless artists.

Reminder, being able to draw in multiple styles and experimenting with different genres doesn't mean you don't have your own style. Having range as an artist is not a lack of identity, it shows that you like to learn and try new things.

To clear up confusion I'm NOT the artist whose art was scraped. I found out about Petra's AI 3 weeks ago. I loved the style but couldn't ethically enjoy it. I didn't know of any real artists who drew quite like it, so I decided if AI steals from us, I'll take it back 1/2.
@dasketcherz @EleanorDrapeaux I never claimed my art was stolen, I've been very clear that my Muses series began as AI backlash to Petra, and I'm repeatedly shouting out artists I know of whose work may have actually been scraped. I think a lot of people are getting confused. .

That reminds me, in my 1st year of art school, we had homework to LITERALLYπREPLICATEπMASTERWORKSπ We were told by our professor, for a grade, to COPY studies. That was freshman year, these are literally just the basic of how artists learn and grow.

There are no rules in real art. You can let your imagination run wild with real art. There's no one to tell you you can't draw something. That's how impressionism, cubism, abstract art, and thousands more styles exist. Generative AI is an excuse to not create real art.
This is so disheartening. I'm curious to see the process. Because shes trained professionally in art. yet use AI to produce the work. I wonder how much of one piece is generated artificially, and if the AI bits are sourced from only her own work??

I don't believe anyone owns an art style. There are those who experiment & develop new movements, but it's always artists evolving from other artists. CΓ©zanne inspired Picasso, who inspired Dali, Edvard Munch, and on and on. Embrace adding your own flair to evolve new styles β€οΈ.
