What a thing to wake up to. Quoted is an OBS screen recording I just threw together. There are my layers. It's depressing, AI took style from real human artists, and now because I'm reclaiming that style in my own art, the AI detectors think it isn't real.
@pixelord I do have a WIP progress gif of her on my page, but here. Here's the layers. I typically don't name most of my layers and just use the auto-select tool to move my way around.

@veil__hq But after asking around online, and this person's post getting ratio'd, I found a lot of artists that were probably scalped by this AI. Check them out!.Bao Pham.Margaret Keane.Jasmine Becket Griffith.Yoshitaka Amano.@fairyartmother.@/hey4ro on Insta.2/2.

They literally have no idea what a study is. It's not "painting over", you're confusing that w/ stable diffusion. A study is involves trying to replicate a photo or still life, to STUDY how to draw it. If you can't see where my painting differs from the ref, that's not my fault.
@FKA787 @peachypegasus @FKA787 apparently these blueberries are just a digital tracing of this original photograph who isnβt even credited by her. And her supporters think itβs original. Hereβs the link to this page.

@petravoice If you guys want to see ACTUAL artists who work in this kind of pop surrealist style, check out Bao Pham, Margaret Keane, Jennifer Becket Griffith, @/hey4ro on Insta, oooor me for that matter. Examples of my work:

@HiImRock1 @pixelord That's the biggest reason I recorded this. In the end I don't really care what an AI bro thinks of my work, what's important to me is that real artists know my art is genuine, and if WIP gifs aren't enough and I didn't record the drawing process, this is what it takes.

More progress on Doe! #wip. People ask how I get the blurry look, it's a combination of lassoing areas for gaussian blur, KYLE smudge brushes, and an airbrush I made for myself.

Someone alerted me to another artist whose work was almost definitely scalped for all this, Alex Chow on ArtStation Go check them out! They're open for full time, freelance, and contract work.
For anyone wanting to see the actual art that was probably scalped for their AI, in order from left to right, top to bottom:.@baotpham.@fairyartmother .Mark Ryden.@/hey4ro on Instagram

@petravoice You're not an artist if you don't actually create art. Typing words into a program and letting the algorithm chew up other peoples' art and then spit it out is NOT creating art.

I would LOVE to be known as the blueberry bish. I loved doing this study, I did them one by one left to right, so I could see how I improved each time. It's called a study, a way for an artist to cultivate their skill. Not surprised that concept is foreign to him.
@peachypegasus No on is madβ¦ Iβm laughing bc uninspired blueberry bish got inspired by an AI artist and is now ripping her aesthetic as a form of βethics revenge against the machineβ π

@consumerofsugar You're right, AI has practical uses. I am in full support of AI tools, specifically TOOLS. I drew my Blind Priestess piece too small to be sold on INPRNT so I put it through Waifu2x, an AI program that magnifies images without quality loss. Still 100% my art, helped by AI.

In fact, I was struggling on this piece and suddenly remembered a clip of him painting clouds I saw when I was a kid. I tried out the technique and it translated from traditional to digital perfectly! Bob Ross's lessons are still helping artists nearly 30 years after his death.
@ParkSiart I respectfully disagree. Even if he didn't push the limits of art like Pollock, Van Gogh, Duchamp etc, he contributed to the evolution of art by dedicating himself to introducing others to painting, teaching basic techniques in an accessible way, and inspiring countless artists.

@Cendre_____ Yup, I did. But I felt that actually showing my layers was important. Not just for the reassurance of people following me for real art, but also because I wanted to slam dunk this accusation. I guess you could say I did it out of. spite π.

@meganroseruiz This is the first genAI to ever trick me, too. I love the aesthetic, so finding out it was AI and I didn't know what artists were stolen from hurt me on such a deep ethical level I started my own series called "Muses." If AI steals styles from us, we can take it back.

To clear up confusion I'm NOT the artist whose art was scraped. I found out about Petra's AI 3 weeks ago. I loved the style but couldn't ethically enjoy it. I didn't know of any real artists who drew quite like it, so I decided if AI steals from us, I'll take it back 1/2.
@dasketcherz @EleanorDrapeaux I never claimed my art was stolen, I've been very clear that my Muses series began as AI backlash to Petra, and I'm repeatedly shouting out artists I know of whose work may have actually been scraped. I think a lot of people are getting confused. .

@ExperimentalRen That piece, "Doe" was made for Pride month! The background is also the same colors. That's why I made the antlers faded as if they were disappearing. or appearing! I wanted it to be left up to interpretation to different trans experiences.

Doe #WIP no. 3π³οΈββ§οΈ. Sometimes you work really hard on something and end up deciding to do something different. It can feel like a waste, but trial and error and problem solving is part of the process.

There are no rules in real art. You can let your imagination run wild with real art. There's no one to tell you you can't draw something. That's how impressionism, cubism, abstract art, and thousands more styles exist. Generative AI is an excuse to not create real art.
This is so disheartening. I'm curious to see the process. Because shes trained professionally in art. yet use AI to produce the work. I wonder how much of one piece is generated artificially, and if the AI bits are sourced from only her own work??

I'm happy I'm not the only artist taking back what AI stole from us. With permission from Sel, a DTIYS of her rendition is my next Muse!. I'm changing the blue sparkles into earrings, the ponytails into space buns, and I think she needs something to look at on her shoulder!
What the image on the left may look like drawn by an actual artist (aka me) . Itβs not perfect but hey, thatβs kinda the point of art right?

In honor of Pride Month I've decided I'm drawing this as a trans character. I mean, she's a doe with antlers and I already added pastel blue to the pink π³οΈββ§οΈ.

@the_weemo I don't agree with it being stealing, I am taking back elements of style AI appropriated from real artists. I'd also say I have evolved it from simple emulation!.

@ParkSiart I'd think that someone with several decades more experience than me could tell the difference between a study and shameless tracing. How do you have so much experience and yet you're so arrogant?. Congrats on your income, but money doesn't make you right, or a better person.

@Myonyo6 @28spo @SalLatora @HillaryDuff43 Dude I even often drew big eyed, small mouth & nose girls with horns and non-human features a DECADE ago. Now I'm just doing it in colour. The idea that I'm only doing this for clout or that it's why I even started working on this style is verifiably wrong.

@EvaSilvertant I love stippling (or did before chronic hand pain π
) I used it all the time in my Ink Girl series back in college. And the caterpillar was a project for one of my fundamentals courses. The process of seeing one dot become two, then three. then a whole piece. So satisfying π

I've seen at least 4 artists start drawing in this style, but only from just stumbling upon them. I don't know where to find more! If you've tried out this style tag it #dreamcore or qtwt, I'm loving this β¨οΈ. If you have a better name than "dreamcore" please share your ideas.
