To be honest since moving to sf I’ve found the social scene way more vibrant, unique, and interesting than anywhere else I’ve lived (including nyc) - difference is most of the social scene isn’t easy to find - esp if your in tech
In terms of lifestyle, SF is sort of a shithole not going to lie

This distinction is so marked in tech, and especially startups.
It’s always a mindfuck when I meet folks whose parents were founders / VCs / tech execs - insane advantage that I’m excited to give my kids.
Nobody tells poor kids how to deal with rich kids in college. It’s just mindfuck culture shock for four years while the millions of dollars that separate them never goes addressed.

Went back home in central valley and learned that my Dad (a special ed teacher) and my sister (a highschool senior) have never actually used LLMs for anything.
Just another reminder that the tech community is such an insulated bubble.
