At this week’s Collaboratory, one of the topics of focus will be: “Leadership <-> Isolation, and the Charge of being in Charge” We’ll share our own struggles from a variety of projects in the co-living & community building realms, and go into deeper discussion about the challenges & tools for leading community. There will also be time for 1-2 projects to be shared and discussed, so feel free to come and bring your ideas to the table!

@gptbrooke We vote for spaces for nudity and spaces for non-nudity, as this allows everyone to have a zone that feels safe/comfortable for them.

During our last Cabin Collaboratory, we focused on these two key topics: 1. Potential Cabin Grants Guild: the idea of building a team, systems, and process to help community builders & neighborhood stewards within the Cabin network find and apply for relevant grants. 2. Co-living Community Value Add: the questions of running an epic, Cabin-esque co-living network, and inspiring residents to share personal project upside/value with each other and w/ the co-living org -> even if there is no direct personal financial gain. If these are the type of conversations that inspire you, we invite you to join us at the next Collaboratory. UPCOMING: Thursday, Feb 6 5:30-7pm (PST)

Last month Cabin sent one of our team, @findkaela, out to the Taos Pueblo; the OLDEST longstanding neighborhood and place-based community in North America. During interviews with community members out here in rural New Mexico, we touched on a few core topics, including the important of shared meals and the emphasis of being a location-based, non-nomadic community.

🌎 Last week in the Cabin Collaboratory… 🛠️ @mataiblacklock brought the concept of fundraising in crypto spaces in order to support distaste relief and public goods in localized areas. Matai is actively involved in disaster relief for the Altadena fire in CA, we also touched on aspects of how to engage local communities in fundraising & volunteering efforts. 🏘️ @sparr0 brought forward the project CoDwell; converting a disused boarding school & its functional facilities into a live/work/play coliving intentional community for 100-200 residents. Instead of one large echo chamber collective, it would rather be organized into "pods" that shared a passion/focus such as permaculture, multi-generational living, or home schooling.

We have several Cabin neighborhoods that are adjacent to the Los Angeles fires. 🙏🏼 No homes/lives lost today, but the tragedy is far from over. The scene of wreckage is shocking. And the flames continue to lick at buildings and trees only a few miles away. If you live in the areas that have been affected, or feel inspired to support others who do - we have found these to be some the most relevant information sources on how to give back.
