Metal is critical for microbial physiology though its role in Lyme disease bacteria is an ongoing debate. Check our new publication @jbiolchem providing multidisciplinary evidence of metals to promote functions of Lyme bacteria immune evasion. @tuftsvet

When microbes meet hosts, the “choice”of host “Tolerance vs. Resistance” is an unknown issues of Eco-immunology. See how we @tuftsvet & @TuftsMedSchool
#TuftsLymeInitiative elegantly approached this mystery using Lizards and Lyme bacteria !

So excited the collaboration with @MacNamaraLab and @JesseBonin1 was finally published. Revealing the how intracellular infectious tickborne pathogens impact the Lyme bacteria-associated inflammation!
The result of a great collaboration with Yi-Pin Lin @c5486112 and support from @NIAIDFunding (and hard work from many @JesseBonin1). We were curious why Lyme disease outcomes are variable and we tested how co-infecting pathogens impacted pathology (& hematopoiesis!).
