tweets that have the same energy:
- every artist tweeting "Clip Studio Paint is on sale, go buy it"
- gamers tweeting "Yakuza 0 is on sale for $5 again!!!"
- Did you know that the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has a free trial, and includes the entirety of a
More Japanese artists are getting to NFTs, but from what I read is that Japan is about 5 months behind in knowing what the consequences are. If you see your favorite artist posting about them, you can politely reply w/ this article written in Japanese:
I'm a lolita fashion blogger who's worn gothic and ouji for 10 years. The fashion is not related to the book. Yes, we know it's a cursed name & no we can not change the name of the it (unfortunately). The community has been fighting misinformation for 15+ yrs.
#lolitafashion
this is a much bigger conversation than i could ever concisely sum up on twitter but i truly believe the root of the solution to fast fashion is as simple as shifting our mentalities to care as much about the person who made your specific garment as the one who designed it
Never forget Square Enix used Vivienne Westwood's Sueno Wedding Dress for Lunagreya Nox Fleuret in Final Fantasy XV.
One of the game's side quests makes you visit the in-game VW store in Altissia just to see the dress!

wait I have a harness lolita fashion story lol
one time I saw a comment on this pic saying the harness was Hot Topic ita trash and I was ruining the Moitie aesthetic
spoiler alert: Moitie made this harness

The article is also translated into English. There's a footnote by the translator that is definitely worth a read because it explains the cultural differences. A lot of Japanese artists didn't understand why overseas people were getting mad.
On topic of hot takes...You can not be a lolita unless you actually wear lolita. It is a hobby based around clothing.
You can be knowledgeable about a subject without being a participant of the hobby. I eat a lot of food, but I don't call myself a chef.
Just wanna add in that Sebastian Masuda who is considered the "father of kawaii culture" shared this list when I first published it. Anyone 👏 can 👏 be 👏 kawaii 👏!
(I have more opinions to be shared later if I can put it into coherent sentences)
ICYMI: Japanese gothic lolita brand
@atelier_pierrot
is exploring multiple size options lately for plus size. They have 3 sizes (corset has 4) that go up to 140 cm bust/130 cm waist. These pieces are currently available on the shop!

sorry I gotta bring this up again, but it's destroying my brain that Tyler said the reason lolita was popular in the west was because of youtubers asdhdjdllskdjakallsdkn the audacity
In memory of Sayaka Kanda who just recently passed away. She's most known for her anime works, but did you know she was a Japanese fashion model, too? She often appeared in KERA! magazine wearing Angelic Pretty and Innocent World.

I'm going to New York, BABYYYYYY ✈️
I was invited to attend the Baby, the Stars Shine Bright fashion show at New York Fashion Week 😳❤️
I never thought I'd ever be going to NYFW 🤯. I gotta hit up all the dessert shops!!

Happy birthday to Shu Yamino eyyyyyyy!
Posting early because my 🅱️ananas aren't gonna make it to May. Some closeups in next tweet.

You can't just tell them "it's bad for the environment" with no context. One line replies don't help either. NFT discussion is already difficult between 2 English speakers. Now imagine a Japanese person with minimum English trying to understand a complex subject in English.
Today in lolita secondhand sales news:
A new with tag original 2001 velveteen Elizabeth OP by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright sold for 201,100 yen (~$1800).
BtSSB Isabel OP from 2001 sold for 151,000 yen (~$1350).
Shibuya Kaho's guest experience at AM
Notes taken from her "Why I won't come back to Anime Matsuri" Twitch stream
Intro: Shibuya Kaho attended AM 2021 as a guest. She is a retired JAV actress who now makes anime/manga-centric video content.

Up til 4am, Anime Matsuri had me, only JP guest there, be their iPad stand & interpreter on a 3hr zoom call to build a 1/1 figure. My team even helped. I've asked about compensation for our time then got ignored. Considering there were many issues besides this, we won't return.
DJ WAKANA passed away in accident. WAKANA was the organizer for the Harajuku goth fashion walks. She also owned Noble Noire, a goth boutique in Harajuku, which closed last year, but wanted to re-open eventually. May she rest in peace.
Saw a thread on r/lolita asking if Atelier Pierrot wasn't popular overseas because OP couldn't find anything secondhand. If you're new to gothic lolita, just know the gothic secondhand market is a lot slower than the sweet secondhand market. Sweet has an incredibly high turnover.
QRT with an obscure J-fashion fact people may not know about.
I'll start: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright owner Isobe really loved his dog and made a print with it. The print is called The World's Most Adorable Dog and the World's Most Delicious Frappe.
Rant: Killstar is calling one of their new dresses from the Tokyo Goth collection a lolita dress when it's clearly not. The garment shape/silhoutte is not full enough to be a lolita dress.
Also they totally yoinked the collar idea from Ista Mori's Nameless Poem.
today I got kicked out by a security guard for wearing jfashion 🧍♀️
I can deal with being asked to leave, but it was weird because he specifically said jfashion.
@kimmythepooh
Watching this episode as a kid was really impactful since my parents were refugees. Reading this interview now I appreciate all the thought that went into it!
If you're also upset that h.naoto and fruits magazine are getting into NFTs, I suggest you @ them instead of expressing your despair indirectly on other threads. Let the people know 👏. May or may not change anything, but worth a try.
Unless you live in Japan or make products, it is very difficult to monetize the lolita fashion hobby. Start up cost is high for a full coord and advertisers hate the word lolita. Majority of the brands are in Japan and China and could care less about appealing to Western audience
Happy birthday Ignis FFXV 🍴!!!! I made an outfit based off his outfit. Also printed out one of those official cursed birthday masks lol. More pics below

In weird news, Juliette et Justine is releasing an oil refinery print JSK.
The photograph they're using is by Kobayashi Tetsuro, a Japanese photographer known for photographing factories and underground spaces with drones.
