The ticket machine just reports its location every minute or so
(The website does list some vehicle features, like what colour it is, whether it's a double-decker or coach, if it has spaces for bicycles, and if it has power sockets etc)

But I’d really rather not bother having so many different liveries that are really the same livery with slightly different branding. And accuracy generally means making the map harder to read for most users

The Arriva example seems to happen when there’s a driver changeover mid-journey. I can probably do something clever to fix it, but it would be better if the operators’ data were more perfect

Yes, when the timetable data doesn’t include the exact route taken (which is quite common) we just draw a straight line between stops. Agree that it doesn’t look very good
