@dremilyportermd @TimFullerton @chaotickim Thank you for reminding everyone of this. Physicians spend A minimum of 11 years with education and training after high school. We think deeply about risk benefit ratio‘s and can assess the science well.

@DrLeanaWen I’m a physician. Honestly it seems like assault to me if an unvaccinated health care worker transmits Covid to a patient or nursing home resident.

@ShariDunawayMD I’m sorry this happened to you. Inappropriate comment and concern by the evaluator in my opinion ( I direct the professionalism curriculum at a med school). I agree you should discuss with deans office, such as dean for student affairs.

@syramadad @nytimes Every physician I know, including myself and my husband, got the vaccine as soon as we were eligible.

@syramadad @nytimes I agree with most of what you wrote and we need to keep working on access and individual discussions to help pple become comfortable with getting the vaccine. However, the title is misleading and may mistakenly lead people to believe that physicians aren’t getting vaccinated. 1/2

@DrJenGunter Please don’t equate a leg DVT with a cerebral vein thrombosis. Yes, course from what we know right now the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is safe from a risk benefit perspective. But cerebral vein thrombosis, while rare, is very serious. The CDC should be looking into it further.

@IjeomaOo Im sorry for your loss. As a PCP I spend a lot of time discussing vaccines and trying to answer questions of my pts.I also wish the public health messages were more positive. We should be shouting from the rooftops that these vaccines are miraculous and will save many lives.

@aslavitt46 So awesome! Keep up the great work! Here in NYC we still have a huge demand for vaccines!

@FutureDocs I’m outpatient primary care medicine. I talk with every patient I interact with about it. And I am going through lists to call patients. Getting the vaccine is probably the most important intervention I can make for my patients’ health right now.

@chrissyfarr I think so but obviously residency is hard work so they need to have some interest in clinical medicine. First, would be very hard to get a residency some day in future if they want to practice medicine. Second, they don’t really understand medicine without doing a residency.

@ashishkjha Yes this is all true. Thx for explaining. But what about canceling elective surgeries? How at of those patients would normally end up in the ICU?
