Yeah it's wrong that so many people think Japan attacked the US for no reason. Japan attacked the US because the US embargoed Japan's oil. Why? Because Japan was on a genocidal rampage throughout east Asia.
when americans study the pacific theater of ww2, it starts with japan attacking the usa “for no reason at all”. japanese history starts with 50 prior years of american interference in east asia, intent on limiting japan’s regional power. which story sounds more believable

Because libs like Zelensky and libs bad therefore Zelensky bad. That's it. These are very stupid people, remember.
I honestly don't get how Zelensky, who seems like a brave and dignified man, and even a good male role model, has become this "two-minute hate" figure to the MAGA set. I mean, look at the way his portrait is being used here, supposed to be triggering like a red cape to a bull.

She was outed as a spy in 1999 in her late 80s, but I genuinely believe we should've still locked her up for treason. It's no different to how elderly SS commanders have been (rightly) imprisoned in the past when their crimes were revealed.
Retired British civil servant Melita Norwood, now an 87-year-old grandmother living in Bexleyheath, is outed as a KGB spy who, in the 1950s, sold a number of atomic secrets to the Soviet Union. She admits to it and says that she is proud of what she did.

There is no anti-Western dictatorship that Jeremy Corbyn will not shill for. Comfortably the most evil, disgusting and vile leader of a major UK political party in modern memory.
Labour’s former leader Jeremy Corbyn condemning Britain’s crucial military aid to Ukraine in an interview he granted to a pro-Russian, pro-Assad, pro-Hezbollah, Iranian-linked propaganda media outlet.

"No to pylons, yes to energy security". You really couldn't make it up. Just enormously thick.
I say No to Diversity Officers. -No to Milliband bankrupting Britain with his Net Zero madness. -No to #Lincolnshire becoming a dumping ground for pylons. -And yes to energy security, food security, and investing in our flood defences in Lincolnshire.

If I was under threat of torture or death in my own country and sought asylum in the UK, I would simply not commit sex offences once there.
@AaronBastani We don’t punish sex offenders with death or torture in this country. qualifying someone’s right to asylum on the basis of whether they have committed a crime would be tantamount to that - something I don’t think we should be arguing for as socialists!.

I’m sorry but you cannot see how nuts this is? Refusing private healthcare out of “loyalty to the NHS” is full on religious cult behaviour.
My father refused private healthcare when dying telling his consultant that he would never not use the NHS. It’s a personal choice. The political choice is whether we fund the NHS properly.

Officially decriminalising sexual assault is a terrible idea and would do untold suffering to vulnerable people. It's an insane idea regardless of whether the person espousing it has been sexually assaulted themselves.
Fuck you, you piece of shit, don't you dare tell survivors of sexual assault how they're supposed to react or what they're supposed to wish for.

I sometimes wonder what would've been the cause of Johnson's downfall had Covid not happened.
Five years ago today: Boris Johnson delivered his victory speech on Downing Street after achieving the Tory party's biggest majority since 1992. If a week is a long time in politics, then five years is an age - & no one will be feeling that more acutely today than him. Pic: PA

I still find it crazy how the Progress Pride flag was able to come out of nowhere and in the space of a couple of years completely supplant the traditional flag which had been around for decades. Definitely speaks to the influence of certain fringe activists.

I’M STANDING IN STRATFORD AND BOW. As the Whistleblower of the Labour Party. It’s time we had a representative who will hold truth to power, for Justice for us all. Vote Halima Khan as the first MP in Stratford and Bow. and the first Whistleblower to be elected into Parliament

In a country where the health system is treated as a pseudo-religion and people are regularly demanded to make sacrifices for it, people being pressured into ending their lives in order to "help the NHS" is not a far-fetched scenario. So no, fears of the worst are very valid.
FYI, I don't consider "The Gov will start killing anyone like Canada" as a valid argument. If we didn't do anything because of fear over worse case scenarios nothing would get done. I don't believe there's any reason that should, or would, happen.

Corbyn calls Hiroshima an "indefensible act of inhumanity", without once mentioning why Hiroshima was bombed in the first place, or what would probably have happened had nuclear weapons not been used.
On Hiroshima Day, we remember the thousands of people who were killed in this crime against humanity. My piece for @tribunemagazine on the best way to honour their memory: by vowing to rid our world of nuclear weapons once and for all.

Germany going from 30% nuclear power in 2000 to 0% just over 20 years later is insane regression, and a reminder that objective progress can often be yanked back for the most irrational and stupid reasons.
"A member of the German ministry seems to have rewritten relevant passages. to imply that it would not be possible to delay the phase-out due to safety concerns.". Wild - the phaseout was in 2021, just as energy prices were skyrocketing. A delay would've helped the economy.

I had many doubts about Starmer but I genuinely (and as it turned out foolishly) believed that his government would at least be solid on national security and foreign policy. No longer. Our enemies will be licking their lips after this decision.

Oh God here we go. Most people know Huw Edwards didn't get special treatment. Most of the uproar is centred around the fact that the justice system treats possession and distribution of child pornography so leniently by default.
Why did Huw Edwards avoid prison?. Is this evidence of “two-tier justice”?. Let’s take a quick look. 🧵. TLDR: This is an entirely expected sentence for offences of this type.

Actually, it’s good that both the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition both agree on one of Britain’s core interests and haven’t had their brains turned to mush by online contrarian conspiracy slop like you have.
Rishi Sunak's "wholeheartedly support" uniparty boosterism for Starmer over Ukraine at PMQs today is not what he's there for. It may make him feel warm and statesmanlike, and get plaudits from pundits, but he's now Leader of the Opposition — clue is in the name, Oppose!.

TikTok is being banned because it's literally a Chinese government psyop and you Zoomers have proven yourselves about as resistant to totalitarian propaganda as Gollum to the One Ring.
the tiktok ban with no receipts on actual reasoning is really feeling like the government admitting: “more people are seeing news we don’t want them to so we are going to ban that place they are seeing it”.

Two years ago we had a Prime Minister who was widely known by just his first name, to such an extent in fact that many people were complaining that it was too familiar and chummy.
Why do we call male politicians by their last name, but women - such as Kamala Harris - by their first? 🤨. Today's Q&A is a US politics special 🇺🇸. Coming to @GlobalPlayer

People who work in Parliament for an MP who describe themselves as "Chief of Staff", what they think they look like vs what they actually look like:
🔵 SOMERTON & FROME: I understand that James Hamblin, chief-of-staff to David Warburton, the MP who has just quit, has applied for the Conservative selection.
