I wish I knew why the Red Sox have no problem handing out huge contracts to players like Chris Sale and Trevor Story but won't sign their own guys like Betts, Bogaerts and Devers.
Source: ESPN readying new hit piece on Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Robert Kraft set to publish tomorrow morning at 8am. The topic will be a power struggle among the trio as to who deserves the most credit for the dynasty.
As a rookie, Mac Jones had the 16th most passing yards in franchise history. Only Tom Brady (12x) and Drew Bledsoe (3x) ever had more passing yards than Jones' 3801. His 67.6 completion % is second only to Brady's 68.9 in 2007. But please, tell me he sucks and won't get better.
The article claims that the rift is so severe many Patriots feel this is the last year together for the trio. Also that Brady went to Kraft to force Belichick to trade Jimmy G. ESPN is planning a full day of promotion tomorrow for the article and its author
@SethWickersham
Patriots fans hate N'Keal Harry, but if they want to win tonight, him chipping the hell out of the Bills linebackers in the run game is going to be huge.
Media for 20 years: Bill Belichick yells at Tom Brady just like any other player! 👍👍👍
Media now: Bill Belichick YELLED at Tom Brady like he was any other player???? 😲😲😲
Doing some light trade deadline reading and recalling that, fewer than two years ago, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots traded a second-round pick for 30-year-old wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.
Just caught Belichick's debut on Inside the NFL, calls Rodney Harrison "the second best defensive player I ever coached" and names him his first choice for "what a football guy is" to him. Gushes about him, clearly one of his all time favorites.
Harrison should be in the HoF.
The Golden State Warriors have been granted a Disabled Player Exception worth $9.3 million due to the season-ending loss of Klay Thompson, sources tell

. It expires on April 19.
Week 5, 2001: Patriots 1-3 coming into game. Trail by 10 in the 4th quarter. Young QB leads comeback which ends in a 29-26 win.
Week 5, 2021: Patriots 1-3 coming into game. Trail by 13 in the 4th quarter. Young QB leads comeback which ends in a 25-22 win.
They replaced Jakobi Meyers with JuJu, traded Jonnu Smith and signed Gesicki, replaced Harris with Elliott, signed two OTs, drafted three OL and two WRs. Not a revamp?
The Patriots didn’t revamp their offensive personnel this spring.
Instead, Bill Belichick is banking on new OC Bill O’Brien to turn things around.
But why?
@ChadGraff
on the massive bet New England is making.
Clip 1: Gardner pops Mac in the throat/chest when he's already down after a nine-yard run.
Clip 2: Mosley bends Mac's head back and slams him down after the play is done.
Clip 3: Mac on ground, puts his hand up and Gardner slaps it away.
But yeah, Mac's the bad guy here.

Bruce Allen’s 10-year run as president of the Washington Redskins is over, per sources. He has been relieved of his duties and is no longer with the organization in any capacity.

THE PATRIOTS FILES
I have thoughts on the

. My thoughts, not what "sources close to" are saying or what "the sense inside the building" is, but what I think about what has happened and might happen.
"The most interesting trade was the Randy Moss trade..
We had been trying to trade for him for two months..
The first two times I called him to say we got him he hung up the phone because he thought it was a prank" 😂😂 ~ Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft have been the catalyst for non-stop drama since splitting in January.
It's a rough look for both men, who seem intent on tarnishing their joint legacy by taking shots at each other.
Weird how the Patriots losing in the first round makes people (not just Patriots fans) realize that it is actually hard to get to the AFCCG, let alone the Super Bowl. First round bye is no guarantee of anything.
Patriots did it eight years in a row.
KG, Pierce and Allen did not plot with each other while playing for other teams or hold their current team hostage to get to play on the same team. This comparison is incredibly lame.
Why was it okay for the Celtics to bring in Garnett & Allen to join Pierce to form a Big 3 and then win a title but the Nets put together a Big 3 and they are loathsome and insufferable? Sounds like you’re still hurt that Kyrie left Boston for a team that has never won anything.
The Krafts caved to the media and the mouth breathers. It's going to be a tough few years, as BB will likely take much of the staff with him, even if Mayo is the next guy up. It's a total ground-up rebuild.
Incidentally, it is possible to make both of these statements:
I think Mac Jones is really good.
and
I think Mac Jones has some things he needs to clean up and improve.
If there is a true "unicorn" in sports today, it is Stony Brook punter Mitch Wright, who can punt the ball equally well with either his left or right foot |

QB Mac Jones is 100% on to Buffalo
Mac Jones: "I'm kind of done with that [Colts] game. I don't know if you will have any more different questions for me"
@LouMerloni
@christianfauria
If any other QB in the league was rag-dolled to the ground like this, once, let alone twice, there would be personal fouls and possible ejection. Somehow Mac is the dirty one in this, whose reputation is further tarnished.
CJ Mosley body slams Mac Jones after the whistle, and Sauce Gardner smacks his hand away instead of helping him up.
Then Sauce lies to the media about getting sack tapped. The Jets are a loser franchise.
Bill Belichick has always been supportive of hiring minority candidates. While his text message exchange might be embarrassing (or maybe not??), I would be very surprised if he'd be upset at Flores for including it in his lawsuit.
If Brady leads the Bucs to a SB title, the path could likely be:
Brady vs Brees
Brady vs Rodgers
Brady vs Mahomes
He pulls that off, and there should be no further 🐐discussion. Ever.

are optimistic about linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley returning for Thursday night's game against the

, per source. Bentley hurt his shoulder Sunday but the injury does not appear serious.
After Chargers game: No Fair! The Chargers shouldn’t have had to play in NE they had a better record!
After Chiefs game: No Fair! KC didn’t get to touch the ball in OT!
After Rams game: No Fair! Edelman shouldn’t been allow to play because he was suspended
to start the season!
I will never stop marvelling at the self-confidence of small time media and radio hosts who think they know more and would make better decisions than Bill Belichick.
I think we need to reinvent our definition of “GOAT”. There’s a difference between being the most accomplished and being the best/greatest. Grouping those together loses context imo.
Offseason storylines, revisited:
Trading Shaq Mason and letting Karras walk: They only have 2 offensive linemen under contract to protect the QB!!!
Now: OL is one of the strengths of the team.
Then he had Rob Gronkowski for the next nine years and won three Super Bowls and went to a fourth. But yes, Belichick hates having highly productive pass-catchers.
Absolutely useless Tweet.
One time the Patriots had an elite WR who had 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns while the team almost went undefeated and Bill Belichick looked at that and said “never again”
"I thought Bill let us down"
"I told him (BB) You're a real schmuck"
"My head coach is a pain in the tush"
"I was disappointed by the negativity in the doc"
"No one told me the weight room was awful"
"The girlfriend wanted to stay in the South"
The steward of the franchise.
This one is unequivocally mind-blowing, folks:
1971 Kareem - Finals MVP
1985 Kareem - Finals MVP
Two Finals MVPs, 14 years apart. This will NEVER happen again.
This type of hyperbole is lazy, has no value and is incredibly disrespectful to everyone who has played the game. Goes into the Hall with no vote? What?
Patrick Mahomes retires today he’s the best I’ve ever seen, & there’s no conversation. He goes into the Hall with no vote. It’s almost become laughable. We should probably stop critiquing regular season woes and struggles. Just wait until Championship weekend & watch then.
Until he got traded to the Rams midseason, I wasn't aware that Von Miller was actually still playing. The Bills just gave him at 33 years old, a $120 million, including $45 million fully guaranteed at signing? I'm good, thanks.
Shaughessy had a book deal with Terry Francona and is an employee of John Henry. Reports on both. Like most in sports media, he has opinions about teams he never covers in person (only shows up when there is dirt to be flung) and he lectures people on journalism.
Well, whatever he did, we know it was less serious than Tom Brady allowing the outside temperatures to dip below 40 degrees and cause the PSI in footballs to drop very slightly.
I wasn't interested in anything Tom Brady Sr had to say when his son was playing here, and I have even less now. His son has moved on, is happy and the Patriots have moved on and are happy with having Mac on a rookie deal for 4 years.
