I don’t know if I’ve cried more. This directly effects me. It will/has impacted sales. Because my book isn’t “the” book of the season, it means u won’t find it in *that* store and grab it off the shelf. My Black voice isn’t worthy enough. I’ve waited 10yrs for a slap in the face.
Barnes & Noble is withholding initial support of debut hardcovers til they find evidence it's worth stocking in their stores. They'll be focusing on guaranteed sales from paperbacks. A middle finger to debut authors esp if they're midlist & marginalized. Get mad, y'all. 1/?

For anyone following along with the B&N issue, the CEO, James Daunt, issued a statement. According to him, the reason so many marginalized authors will never see themselves in ANY B&N in the country is because B&N is exercising “taste.”
