If you're looking to talk about software engineering or engineering management I've updated my open office hours with morning and evening slots (in EST) and would love to chat! Hit me up,
People are going to dunk on Twitter for killing Fleets, but honestly killing high-visibility, not great products should be the norm. Not letting products become a junk drawer is hard, especially at scale.
Now is the perfect time to bring back the Apple Cube since we have chips that do so much better with power consumption. I’d absolutely pick up an M2 Max Cube
So, what’s next?
I’m pretty pumped to be joining
@square
in a few weeks as an engineering manager on the
@CashApp
team!!!
Looking forward to helping lead a very distributed team and learn a ton!
Started working on an idea I've had for a while yesterday. When I'm overwhelmed I love using an Eisenhower matrix to try to sort out what's actually important and not falling into the "everything is urgent" trap.
Two weeks from this coming Friday is going to be my last day at Twitter 😔. It's been a fun and wild ride to help build up the NYC office and learn a whole lot about distributed teams.
My team and peers have been excellent, I'm so thankful for everything.
Yesterday was my 1 year anniversary of joining
@browsercompany
so I felt it was the right time to reflect a bit on how the last year has been and what it's been like to join a start up again.
Next week is my last full week
@CashApp
, it's been a blast to get to work through a few different problem sets these last 2+ years. I've had the pleasure of helping the business and org grow in wonderful ways, but it's time for something new.
I'm pumped to say that I'm going to be joining the great folks
@browsercompany
in the coming weeks! Looking forward to a little break between roles, but then diving in deep to make a better way to use the internet ❤️
I don’t think I’ve grown a team as quickly as I have had to
@CashApp
, super fun to build out effective org structures and ship some rad stuff so soon into joining!

@CashApp
, this Tweet is for you! I'm hiring iOS and Android engineers to join us in figuring out the future of how humans send money. DMs are open, and here are some direct links 🧵
Just got my
@Square
Workday information and there's a message from
@jack
and holy shit his Square company picture is so different than his
@Twitter
one
Now knowing that Yahoo was also thinking about buying a video service makes so much more sense why they pushed us to do dumb video shit.
However the best “yahoo doesn’t understand” moment is when an executive they installed wanted to make Tumblr “the next PDF.”
Former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer reveals she regrets buying Tumblr instead of Netflix or Hulu.
Yahoo bought Tumblr in 2013 for $1.1 billion, but by the time it was sold in 2019, the value of the platform was reportedly down to $3 million.
Seeing friends quit working at Tumblr makes me feel incredibly happy for them, but bummed for what I remember Tumblr as and what it was important for millions of people exploring online. The company is a shell of what it was and would be better served completely imploding.
Interesting to see people finding out that most engineering teams are smaller than they think and lots of the good work that they see is primarily people that advocate and do extra work in the free time they likely don't have
Recruiters that send emails that are like “hello {person} your experience seems good, please click this link to schedule a time to chat” have gotta be kidding, right? Where’s the romance?! Where’s the emotion?!
If you haven’t read this thread you should. I’ve known Rachel as a friend for over a decade and know how much she cares about her jobs and how hard she has worked to be in tech. She is a good person, and this fucking sucked.
One year at Square working on
@CashApp
today. So much we’ve done as a team to scale, but so much more to be done. Certainly a bit of drinking from the firehouse that I still have to do though :)
Some good crazy on the subway tonight of someone telling the entire car he was going to kill another member. Not fight, kill. And I’m just like, uhh, man, c’mon my day was really hard someone chained themselves to our front door, just fucking relax.
