This may sound ridiculous but, I want Trump to offer his cabinet to the senate just like the congress does an omnibus spending bill. It's all or nothing and let Republicans commit to not giving the elected president the cabinet he needs to do what he has promised. He should make.

If I'm not mistaken, the new congress gets sworn in on Jan 1 so the gov't would only be shut down for 2 weeks or so and considering it's Christmas, no one will be working anyway. Come back after the holidays and vote the first day on a redacted version of their bill without the.

@Nichole05507742 After 2020 I looked up the popular vote totals for several elections. For the previous 20 yrs. we had fairly consistent total votes cast from 120 to 129 million. Obama was the highest vote getter in his first term only to win again with 6 mil. less votes in his second term.
