Had an a brain lapse umpiring last night…the coach who’s team it impacted came up to me between innings and said “flush it man, next play it’s not a big deal”…that meant a lot, 99.9% of the coaches, fans, and players are great, we need more younger umpires. Umpiring is fun!

Not sure why some schools are SOOO adamant that coaches can’t be on the infield coaching kids up especially early in the season…especially in relays… you don’t coach football and basketball from the stands 😂… I get it at districts and state.. but early bird meets.. cmon man

My solutions to ending the umpire shortages
1. Limit schools to 30 game schedules.
2. Put time limits on all games.
3. Waive fees for joining associations for a few years.
4. Checks on site (waiting 3-6 weeks to get paid isn’t enticing for younger people).

7-12 girls and boys had 75 student-athletes training and on the track at the same time & we got finished in a little over an hour! We are slowly building a track community and culture here! Tonight was fun to see the track filled with close to 90 athletes at a little 1A school!

If you would’ve watched our practice yesterday we did 90 seconds of actual work in 55 minutes(we prioritize rest)… 15 speed drills X 5 seconds each and 3 timed sprints that lasted 4-5 seconds each…work smarter not harder. Track is fun just ask our girls!
If you’re doing speed training correctly, if someone were looking at your workout from the outside, you’d be resting a lot.
Max effort then stand/walk around.

The best part after school when we were doing speed training is: 1) the kids cared about their 10 meter fly times 2) they were upset they didn’t do well 3) they had smiles on their faces, and were happy when they ran the times they wanted 4) they left FRESH, HEALTHY, & HAPPY!!!
