Very sad to hear this

I asked yesterday and said these figures were incorrect, why is this still up?
We finished last season with ~450 adult players across 12 different teams and ~200 kids with half a dozen to a dozen joining every week - it's been well documented
East Belfast GAA has 500 members across 10 teams - so why have they not been allocated a GAA pitch to play on?

We've the largest number of adult players of any club in Ulster by a mile. There's no club in Belfast from any sport that has anywhere close to our player numbers and amount of teams

Less than 18 months ago our camogs played their first ever game
That game was the first time half of them set foot on a pitch or seen goalposts
They're now in a championship final this Sunday
They also need an extra manager/coach next season for the reserve team

We hosted our first ever youth blitz this weekend which was for U7.5 Camogie
U7.5 camogs then done a guard of honour for our league winning senior camogs who went on to win their first ever championship match

I got hounded for 3 days by BBC journos after one of the attacks at HJ, nothing to do with me! They didn't bother interview the wannabe councillor who instigated the mini crimewave. Then the day after Radio Ulster lead with a segment "should gaelic games be allowed in EB" 🤷
At the risk of sounding trite, I enjoy a lot of programmes on the BBC - but it needs to have a good look at itself on the tired line of questioning towards the GAA. Column👇

The game can't go ahead now
Club is coming 2 years old at the end of May, some days are exhausting. One of the facilities we use in the east we had 70% use over a 12 month period, no posts either and we still have to travel to places like Mallusk just to play a "home" game.

This came through on Christmas Day This is the worst illness I have ever had, debilitating headaches, muscle joint and even skin pain, dizziness, nausea, no appetite, incredibly chronic fatigue . My wife and I are fit non smokers and it's flattened us. I don't wish this on anyone

People skills is largely overlooked when putting a team together both playing and non. It's hard to get the balance right when you're trying to drive standards. You always respect the team mates and coaches who had these skills and they're worth their weight in gold

We've a catchment of +160k, the largest adult playing mship in Ulster, twice the 2nd biggest. Our p/schools want coaching, some schools have +200 kids per year, not one GAA pitch in the area
If there is a question to be asked about urban investment I'd start with where is it?

It's difficult to promote a sport when you aren't being provided the facilities
Clubs right across the city have booming numbers however as ratepayers we're being short changed
Equality for Gaelic Games

to urgently address the total lack of GAA facilities in North Belfast.
North Belfast has NO dedicated GAA pitches.
The North Belfast GAA Pitches Forum is our first step in addressing the imbalance in council provision.

A graffiti artist created a beautiful mural of Samuel Beckett on a gable wall in the Belmont Road area. It was destroyed by a person unknown for whatever reason we care not. All I and others care about is getting it restored
