Could not be more thankful. The beautiful Hannah, my stunning Adrianna, and 8 of the biggest knuckleheads on the planet.
Everyday is a joy. PaPa would be proud.
Two different team camps from today's wrestling event.
How well a team is coached is not often easy to tell inside the lines. There are too many variables.
How well a team is coached is ALWAYS easy to tell outside the lines.

I have been advocating (and losing) for this for 15 years. I see it every day. Money and travel at the youth level are eroding sports in HS, not growing them. Go ask any AD about participation numbers and JV and freshman teams....even at the "big schools".
Thanks, but I am perfectly capable of doing all these things at once:
Being excited and happy for our athletes.
Feeling anxious.
Supporting the OHSAA
Questioning the OHSAA
Having empathy for a growing list of sxhools unable to start.
Wishing for a more inclusive plan.
.....Aaaaaaaand for the next 60 hours every AD will be checking the forecast every 15 minutes.

PSA: Yes, I have seen the reports. No, I don't know how much snow we are going to get, If I knew if we were cancelling I would have told you already.

This is not a rendering, a painting, or CGI. This is 11 am on a Thursday. I love it when a plan comes together.
Looking forward to seeing

"Dad. Why don't you ever sit with the other parents?"
You almost always find coaches and ADs who go watch their own children against the wall, down the line, or in a corner.
Why is it

My superintendent called or stopped in every day this week to say "What can I do?" and jumped on a gator to help park cars at 4 pm.

P.S.- my superintendent can also destroy your superintendent 💪😂
Dad at soccer match just complained that a referee's call was wrong by saying the ref "was twenty five yards from the play".
He said this from fifty yards from the play.....

To all my friends starting their 16 hour day after their 80 hour week to put on a home football game: THANK YOU from everyone for the 99% of things that will go seamlessly because of your planning.
The people who will be outraged about the other 1% always forget that part 😂🤣✊
One more time for the people in the back:
1. Hosting 7 to 10k is not the same as hosting 3k. Increased gate workers, security, custodians, ushers.
2. ADs at schools with decent sized facilities have always been very generous with providing a service by hosting...but.....
I know it's somebody else's job and I'm sure those empty popcorn boxes and water bottles are heavy but there's trash cans all over the place. Clean up after yourselves.
Adults are the worst.
Random 4th grade youth coach in hallway team meeting: "If I am.screaming at you out there it is because I know you are good."
Looks on girl's faces: "OK, cool. I will try not to tear up anymore, but any chance you stop screaming and just coach us up?..asking for a friend"

Congrats to Joe Bogdan for winning the Larry Wilson award for his contributions to the OHSBCA. Joe currently serves as our Boys Showcase Director. Congrats Joe!
Is there a "cry room" in your church? Separate room with big window?
I am proposing the exact same thing for youth basketball parents... except THEY are the loud babies we put in there so everyone else can enjoy the game.

"Fish don’t know they're wet, and people who soak in media that just tells them what they want to hear don’t know they’re being duped."
Another fine g-file from an actual conservative.
A lot of people watching a lot of video trying to find bad kids...and rightfully so.
When you get a chance, watch again and see how many kids are checking on their teammates, keeping their friends calm, and following the instructions of their coaches and admin.
I know that it happens to everyone now and then but the number of times ADs go to work with a very organized to do list and end up doing none of it because of someone else's "emergency" is mind boggling.
Akron is expensive. That call is between them and OHSAA
The next three would hear constant whining of "not big enough" even though they would be great environments.
Byers it is. Enjoy that you are still playing. Go early. Have fun.
And don't forget to thank Byers for hosting.
This is the inherent problem of no centralized plan from the Governor. Athletic departments left to make unwinnable decisions.
They should petition the state to make a plan that is inclusive and reflects the reality of the problem instead of ignoring it. All schools WANT to play
Personal Log, Day 20,297:
Secretly rolled out a basket today to ensure I was the first person to make a shot from behind the college 3 point line in Field House history.
Sad my father couldn't rebound for me and correct my form, but glad he didn't have to see how long it took.
Congrats to Rich Venuto for being inducted into the

This is also your reminder that if you think you know a better person, you are incorrect.
False reports of sell outs can be so annoying... 😂
Are you sure the gym is big enough? Should the game be moved??...😂🤣
Yes, I have been waiting months for this tweet.
Seriously, should be a great game/atmosphere. I have my tickets and will be there!
....just not at 3:30 🤣
1. Athletic Directors before both teams, the officials, and the clock operator arrive.
2. Athletic Directors after both teams, the officials, and the clock operator arrive.
As September comes to an end, I have two thoughts:
1. Even with all the cancelling, changing, and rescheduling it has been great to get in so many events.
2. This month has been three years long...

The people of Lake love hosting. Proud and generous community in everything they do. The number of people who offer to help is long and distinguished. I am lucky to be a part of them. I handle the tweets, they do the rest.
I want to sleep, Lake wants to host again tonight... 😂
@Lake_Athletics
did a Phenomenal job this week and especially last night hosting the Massillon vs. Perry game. They should be recognized for their preparedness and hospitality. Great people making the most out of a tough situation and showing out for their community!

Weekend Observation: youth AAU basketball is a good example of what we are trying to teach in education based athletics in the same way that Real Housewives is a good example of what we are looking for in healthy marriages.
Demo Day!
If you played at the Fieldhouse anytime from November 24th 1950 until today you would recognize the locker rooms.
That starts to change today. Fieldhouse makeover will start in the areas you can't see and extend into the areas you can.

Vermont's Josh Speidel was a highly touted prospect before a car accident derailed his college career.
Tonight, on Senior Night, he scored his first basket on the first possession of the game 🙏
Great high school basketball game in a great atmosphere. Both teams battled all night and had chances to win. We just had the best player on the floor tonight.

Two Cents:
Give teachers needed information and resources and they will move heaven and earth and sacrifice their own time, money, and well being to help kids.
Give them a reason to think you are endangering those kids and they will stand like a brick wall between you and them.

Never been an easy job, but classroom teacher's jobs are now HARDER than usual. The stuff I see my wife doing for her students and what I see coming to us from my kids teachers is awesome. Teachers continue to be rock stars no matter what you throw at them.

🚨Attention Teachers: You affect lives.
By my unofficial count, tonight was the 10,000th event where a stranger heard my name and sought me out to say "Your dad was my (teacher/coach/principal/boss" and then told me how he helped them...It never gets old.

Fact!!
Group of NEO students at University of Cincinnati jumped all over each other cheering and crying in the theater like it was real while (at the time) spoiled Reds fans looked on in disbelief. 😂

He underestimates my pettiness... EVERY time they win, they beat the team I am rooting for. 😉

To help me with my short game after school too?
Paid Dominic $20 to ride the roller coaster with his sister so I wouldn't have to and she wouldn't have to go alone. Right now he thinks I'm the best step-dad ever. Later he'll realize I would have gladly paid $200 not to go.....
Saddened by the loss of Jeff Spaulding today.
Never enjoyed a season as much as I did in 2000-01 sitting next to him on the bench.
He rekindled my love for coaching during a time when I desperately needed it.
RIP coach.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but there is nothing that can happen and nothing you can do that you can't recover from when you are surrounded by great people who care about you.

My two cents, RE: VP nominee.
Strong, ambitious women should be celebrated not belittled. My mother went to college at a time when even her parents said you don't need to. She became a principal when most were men. In short she didn't wait her turn.
Find a different "weakness"
Happy 21st to my main man. Other than this was supposed to be your rookie year in the NBA, I could not be prouder of your great combination of "just like my dad" and "not at all like my dad".
I know I am old and things are different, but a crowd like this, in a game like this, in a place like this, makes me sad....
I feel like I am going to have to chain myself to the doors to stop the bulldozers some day....

Happy 44th Birthday to my brother Michael.
He is a 33 time winner of my brother-of-the-year award.
I don't have any other brothers, the award was just not given from 1997 to 2006 (no deserving nominees) and his 2017 award was later vacated (no further comment).
