Im not a suck up, I respect animators and see animation as an art form, which it is by definition. A vast majority of 2d animation is done solely by hand, and many animators see the use of AI as extremely distasteful and even offensive. Accusing any animator of using ai is rude.

Durability is the amount of damage something can negate, or how much force it takes to damage something. It’s physical. Sanji.
Endurance is the actual ability to tolerate damage, it’s more mental. Zoro.

At Crocodile’s Rainbase in Alabasta, a captured Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Smoker are moments from becoming a meal for Croc’s pet Bananawanis. But yet again, Sanji had snuck into the bottom of Rainbase, and took out the Bananawanis just in time before the building could flood.

Perhaps one of Sanji’s most iconic moments is his entrance in Skypeia. Usopp is hurt while attempting to distract Enel, & after knocking Usopp down, Enel prepares a killing blow, but before he can deliver it Sanji flies in & kicks Usopp away, taking Enel’s attack head on.

Once again, it’s Sanji who comes in to save the day. Dealing a swift kick, he knocks Jabra back. Previously he had been incapacitated by Kafka, but by a stroke of luck was able to get free. He then encourages Usopp to find Robin, and to leave Jabra to him.

At Enies Lobby, while Zoro is occupied with Kaku, Nami and Usopp are facing a threat yet again. Jabra tricked Usopp, luring him him and severely injuring him. Jabra taunts Usopp for being weak, and threatens to kill him in front of Nami who begs him to stop.

There is one character that I believe has truly mastered the art of the perfect timing entrance however, and it’s not Luffy.

Ace of the Diamond is the most fun I’ve ever had reading a manga. There is so much to love about it. The characters, the art, the story, the game of baseball itself, and most importantly how it teaches you that in the real world things are not always going to go your way.

I like the muted color palette a lot. CSM is a very grungy series. It takes place in the 90’s too so a more muted tone would be fitting since tv color wasn’t quite as good yet.

Eijun is not supposed to be special at the start. He begins the series quite literally at the bottom of the pecking order. He has talent, but he lacks the knowledge and experience to utilize it. The series is a slow burn as it follows Eijun in his journey of learning the game.

Ace of the Diamond is a masterpiece of relationship story telling. The contents of it are perfect representations of what the sport of baseball is like and the bonds it creates. As I soon move on to Act 2, I can only imagine what new characters and events will await.

An underrated aspect of the manga is Yuji Terajima’s knowledge of the sport. The man has very clearly spent most of his life learning about the game of baseball. His knowledge is showcased in the dialogue, explanations, in game situations, and the fluidity of his art.

Furuya is a foil to Eijun. Blessed with talent from birth, but talent that is held back by severe limitations such as his lack of stamina. However, Furuya does not think he is better than Eijun. He sees Eijun as an equal, a threat to his role as the ace, but not an enemy.

Eijun however is the embodiment of the indomitable human spirit. He is overwhelmingly energetic and enthusiastic. Though he is not immune to doubting himself, as seen when he gets the yips and becomes unable to pitch for several games.

A frequent complaint about it is that Eijun constantly gets “shafted”. But this is intentional. He’s not a chosen one, he is going to fail and fail a lot. As the series progresses though those failures become less common, but remain destructive to his psyche, and hurt to read

The character dynamics are unlike any other in the sports genre. The almost fatherly roles Miyuki and Chris play for Eijun, Eijun and Furuya’s rivalry, Mei and Miyuki’s friction that echoes their past friendship, the distinct identity of each team we meet. They’re incredible

The standout of this series is the catchers, Miyuki Kazuya and Chris Yuu. A unique archetype that is seldom found in the sports genre. The relationship of a pitcher and catcher, known as a battery, is perhaps the most tight knit and intimate relationship in sports.
